Hi I'm Darlene

I'm a Mormon.I'm a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of a largefamily, and I love it!

About Me

I am about to be 74 years old, and I feel that I have had a very good life. I was raised in a small town by very good parents who I always knew loved me. They gave me every opportunity to grow and develop my talents. I've tried to provide those same opportunities for my family. I have been blessed to have a wonderful husband and helpmate. I have four children of my own and helped raised five step children. Our family has always enjoyed many activities together. We have owned several boats and have participated in all kinds of water sports together. We also enjoyed snow skiing and traveling as a family. For myself, I enjoy music, drama and dance. My husband and I have been avid square dancers for many years. I love getting people together to have a good time and enjoy each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon Church. My ancestors were hail and hearty pioneers who crossed the plains. As a young person I had many friends who were active members, and as a teenager, my life and all my activites really center around the Church. You may say I never really had a choice. But that is not true. There comes a time in everyone's life when they must decide for themselves who they really are. Like anyone else, I was exposed to every other kind of life that was out there. My first husband fell away from the church and sought a different style of living. He wanted me to live that way, too. But I soon realized that wasn't for me. I knew that I found true happiness in feeling close to the Lord, and I wanted that for my children as well. I soon found myself on my own with three small children. Then I found my second husband, and we decided together that true happiness abides in following the teachings of a family centered Church. We have been married forty-five years now and are very happy.

How I live my faith

I suppose you would say that I live my faith by what I do every day. I pray every day and thank the Lord for my blessings, and I always seek his help with my problems. I read the scriptures and attend church regularly. I have served in many capacities in the Church in teaching and in leadership. Presently I am involved with the wonderful music that is sung and the specials performances given by those who have developed their talents. I would say that I myself am a product of the Church's many programs that help us to develop our talents and to have confidence to speak before others. I have always had responsibilities in the Church and I know that I have grown and learned many things from those responsibilities. I love my neighbors and enjoy them very much. It is a joy to be with them and to help them whenever I can. Although they do not share my faith, they are good people and we have much in common in spite of any other differences. I want everyone to know that we are friendly people and not judgemental. I enjoying sewing and I am involved with our many humanitarian programs that provide clothing and other necessities to those who need it. I have a very soft spots in my heart for people who are in need all over the world. I feel very good about the Church's programs to meet people's physical as well as spiritual needs whoever or wherever they may be.
