Hi I'm Patrick Cox

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My kids call me Disneydad.. I am a Disney fanatic! When my wife would talk about where to go on vacation, she would say honey anywhere but Disney. What I heard? Disney! So... we've been to Disney 20 times since 1994! My wife went pregnant 3 years in a row to Disney...but now she is as big a fanatic as I am! and my Kids love it also..they are 24 (w/ wife and our first granddaughter), 15, 14 & 13!!! In the Church I serve as the Financial Clerk in my Ward and this has been very rewarding to me. It has allowed me to get to know the other members on a more personal basis. I have been in the Insurance industry for 27 years guiding seniors through the confusing Medicare program. I play Golf, I like to fish & Hunt..And I'm Huge Georgia Bulldogs fan!

Why I am a Mormon

I had been a member of the Southern Baptist Church from childhood, Including helping start 2 new Churches. I was in Savannah, GA when I met a Gentleman who worked with the company I did and we became great friends. In fact my wife, while in Atlanta visiting family, went and visited Him & his wife. She was very impressed with their Family life and the loving way in which they treated each other. So to answer the ? Why I'm a Mormon? We called The Missionaries and asked them to come by to visit us and bring us a Book of Mormon, because of the way my wife was impressed by our new Mormon friends. By the time they were ready to leave I had a feeling of the Spirit like no other time, I called my friend and asked him why he had not shared the Gospel with me. He said I would love to share it with you and he & his wife came to Savannah. With the missionaries they shared the Discussions with us. Shortly thereafter he and his entire family came back to Savannah and Baptized us... Why I'm a Mormon? Because I realized that Mormons were just regular folks like myself and the Gospel they shared was very similar to the Gospel that I had been taught all my life but they were able to fill in blanks that I had always wondered about.... I Know that The Book Of Mormon is a true and powerful word of God and that the Bible is also a true and Powerful word of God and I am so thankful that we have a Prophet living today that can give us guidance in our everyday lives.

How I live my faith

One of the ways I live my faith is by helping others in the community. For instance helping a single mom move into an apartment and help provide appliances, food and clothing. Also, I love going to appointments with the missionaries, helping to introduce the Gospel to those seeking truth. I guess you can say I Live My Faith by doing what my faith teachs and not just talking about doing it!

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Patrick Cox
No! We believe in living the teachings of Christ by helping others in need. as an example this past Sunday we had a gentleman walk into the Church, saying we was riding by on his bike and felt a pull to come in, our Bishop met with him and found out he was homeless and needed a place to stay and some work to help him along the way, we went and found a member who frequently needs help with his business and asked him to come to the bishops office to see if he could help. He was able to employee this man to work in his business and arranged to pick him up the next morning, but our help didn't end there, we contacted a local hotel and made arrangements for him to stay there overnight until we could put him in a long term lodge which we did the next day... Now we do also help our members but the Church encourages us to seek out and find those who are in need and Help them.. kind of like if someone shows up to eat at your home with a large cut on his arm... do you repair the cut before you feed him the food? No you make sure the physical needs are met then see if you can help also with the spiritual needs... Show more Show less
