Hi I'm Braden

I'm from Orem, Utah. I attend BYU, study Facility and Property management, I love sports, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying Facility and Property Management. I love being at BYU, and I love what I study. The field is expanding and growing at an incredible rate and the need for facility managers is greater every single day. I love being with my family. My parents are so great for me and there is no doubt that they love me more than I can understand. I am the oldest of their 6 children. I also have a step-mother and 3 younger step-siblings whom I also love very much. I am a huge sports fans and follow many teams: BYU sports (especially football and men's basketball), the San Francisco 49ers, the Utah Jazz, and the Boston Red Sox. Of all of these I am most passionate about my BYU Cougars!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS church, or "mormons") so I grew up living in that atmosphere my whole life. However, I have my own personal conviction that I know it is the restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith because I have lived the teachings. I haven't been a passive observer; I have actively obeyed. I have not been obedient because I am blind; I have been obedient because I can see. Every time I live the teachings, read the scriptures, or pray to my Heavenly Father I feel his love for me and a spiritual confirmation through the Holy Ghost that what I am doing is right and good. I have read the Book of Mormon - the evidence that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I have prayed about it. I have received many, many spiritual confirmations that confirm to me of its truthfulness. What does it mean to me that the Book of Mormon is "true"? It means that it is the word of God as brought forth through one of His servants. It speaks his word, it testifies of his love, and preaches his gospel. Joseph Smith once said that the Book of Mormon would bring a man closer to God than any other book. It has been true in my life: the Book of Mormon has brought me closer to God than any other book has or could. I know it is the word of God.

How I live my faith

The best way to describe how I live my faith is actively. If I have a question about a doctrine or a teaching, I actively seek to find the answer. Whether that involves obeying, then seeking through prayer to receive a confirmation that it is right, or whether it involves scripture study and prayer I always receive an answer from the Holy Ghost. One of my favorite aspects of the Church of Jesus Christ is the General Conference every 6 months where we have the chance to listen to and incorporate the words of the living prophet and 12 apostles of Jesus Christ. Their words are inspired and are revealed to them by God. When I listen actively to their messages and incorporate their messages into daily life I realize how personal the messages were for me and how inspired they were for me in my personal life. Another aspect of living my faith is serving in the church in my area. The local leadership of the church has given me a responsibility to serve in a capacity where I can make a difference and help the local church run smoothly. I serve without being paid, and sacrifice my time and efforts to do anything I can for the local leadership.
