Hi I'm Don Chase

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a husband, dad, and work as an occupational therapist. Oh and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the heart of the Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area. I enjoyed growing up near the ocean. Surfing was my favorite thing to do growing up, and I still love to go to the beach with my family whenever possible. I also enjoy traveling any chance we get. I speak German, as I was able to live in Germany for a couple of years. I went to college at San Jose State University and graduated with a degree in occupational therapy. I loved school so much, I'm currently pursuing a doctorate degree in occupational therapy. I am a husband, a father, and friend. We love to have friends over, eat, eat, and then cook so we can eat some more. I also enjoy swimming, playing soccer (especially with my son), working out and staying fit. I enjoy life and experiencing as much of it as I can. The world is such a beautiful place I want to see it all!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I think that we all go through life looking for purpose, meaning, and ways that we can find joy. I found the greatest joy in my life has come since I gained a testimony of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Mormon church. This happened when I was twenty-two years old. Growing up where I did, I had a few Mormon friends, but most of my friends were of other faiths, or did not go to church. My friends and I had a lot of fun growing up, but at a certain point I began to seriously question things, it was soon after I had a friend pass away losing his battle against Leukemia. I began to ponder, what is the purpose of life, why am I here, is there something more important than just having fun, going surfing and hanging out with friends? I had a good friend at that time who talked to me about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ gave their life so much meaning, purpose and joy. I thought that is what I want to know for myself, so I found out for myself that there was something greater out there. That something greater is the love, and a perfect example of how we should live given to us by our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ restored His church on the Earth again, and that there is a prophet on Earth today. I think that this is the greatest news ever.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church because I find joy in doing so. I currently work with individuals that are interested in finding out more about Mormons. There are full time missionaries that leave their homes for two years to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ for two years. My way of serving in my congregation is by assisting them however possible, and coordinating missionary work in my local area. This means I get to serve by attending appointments often in my own home or the homes of those interested in the church. We discuss any questions they may have, and I get to tell them how much joy I have found in my life since gaining a testimony or knowledge of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I also invite them, if they desire, to find out for themselves if the things the missionaries and I tell them are true. I am happy to serve in this way at this time, and find great joy in sharing things that make me happy with other people. It is quite rewarding.
