Hi I'm Kendrick Charles (KC)

I was adopted into a Mormon family at birth. I'm a "Rocket Scientist" and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My birth mother was a teenager who gave me up for adoption. I earned an Engineering degree and married and we now have 5 children and 15 grandchildren. I work for a company that launches rockets for NASA and it is very fulfilling. Growing up in Utah helped me learn to love the outdoors where I skiied, played basketball, baseball, and football but I especially love to play golf with my family! I also love music and enjoy playing the guitar and singing in our church choir. This love of music has been passed on to my family as well and our home is always filled with music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be adopted by a Mormon family in Utah who loved and cared for me. They raised me in the Mormon faith and I was baptised at the age of 8. I learned to know my Savior and that I have a Heavenly Father who loves and cares for me. Even though I was raised LDS, I had to learn for myself if the LDS church was true. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if what I had been taught is true and I received a very intense feeling of conviction that it is true. I served a mission in Montreal, Canada to teach people of my testimony and help others come to know our Savior and Heavenly Father better. This mission helped me learn to love others even more. After my mission, I met a girl who is a member of the LDS church who also has a strong testimony and we got married and now have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. My wife and I were sealed for time and all eternity in the Temple and love the knowledge that we are an eternal family! We have taught them to learn to love the Savior and follow his example and spirit. They have also sought out their own testomonies and the married children have been married in the Temple as well! Since my mission, I have dedicated my time to service and have had several different "callings" in the church and have learned so much from this service. I know that our Heavenly Father wants us to help each other return to live with him. We cannot make it alone and we need to support and serve one another. I know that my Redeemer lives! He loves me and wants me to make great choices. I know that the Book of Mormon is another great testimony of our Savior and helps us understand what is right and wrong along side the Bible. I know that we have a living Prophet today leading us and guiding us as I know that Heavenly Father would not leave us alone here on earth without speaking to us! I leave this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

As I mentioned, I have served in several different capacities in the church. I have: - Taught Sunday School classes to teenage youth - I have planned activities for fun as an Activities Chair - I have been a Scout Leader - I have taught an Adult Sunday School class (intimidating but a great learning experience)! - I have served as a member of the leadership on different levels - I have worked with the young men's organization helping plan service opportunities etc. All of these experiences have helped me forget myself and concentrate on the happiness of others. I have learned that my "problems" seem to lesson when I am serving others and I am much happier inside.
