Hi I'm Janie

I'm a special education teacher, an artist, a wife, a Mom, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

With a wonderful new husband, a blended family including eleven children from 4 to 30, and a full-time career teaching young adults with Autism I sometimes find that I need to escape the reality of my blessings. When that happens, I go for a walk with a good friend, take an art class with my sisters, or go on a date with my sweetheart. I love to learn new things and am constantly trying to improve myself and develop my talents. I find joy in the act of creation, whether in fiber, fabric, silver, watercolor, or another medium. I also find joy in teaching and helping others to learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and have always been a Mormon. The reason I choose to continue to remain active and raise my family in the church is because of the joy and peace that my knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings to me. When times are hard, when we struggle with finances, when I have to make a decision for myself or my family, I know that I can turn to the Lord and search for answers in the scriptures and I can receive comfort, peace, and the direction that I am seeking.

How I live my faith

I feel like every person I meet is a child of God. As I teach my students with Autism, raise my children, and interact with others, I try to keep in mind that each individual is loved, worthy of respect, and a special being. When I get frustrated with someone because of their actions, or inaction, I remind myself that everyone I meet is going through their own struggles and trials that we cannot know, this helps me to be patient and give others the benefit of the doubt. I try to meet every challenge with faith, humor, and patience.
