Hi I'm Julie

I graduated from BYU with a degree in Geography. I'm a wife, a full-time Mom, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California as the second of four children. After graduating from BYU, my husband and I moved to Washington. Two years later our son was born. Now I’m a full time mom who enjoys spending time with my family, reading, and enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I wanted to gain a testimony for myself of its truthfulness. After years of studying the scriptures, attending church meetings, and asking God if this was truly his church I came to know that this indeed was the right place for me to be. I feel the love of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ as I strive to live the principles of the Gospel. I’m grateful to be part of a church that provides care and relief for others. One of the greatest joys in life comes from serving others and I feel our church provides ample opportunities to do so. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book that was inspired by God. Whenever I read it, I feel like I’m spending time with an old friend. One of the beauties of the Book of Mormon is that it helps me in my daily life. Whether I have a question that I want an answer to, or comfort in times of trial, I know that the Book of Mormon can help guide me in my life. I love how easy it is to make friends at church. Everyone is so kind and makes me feel welcome. I feel like I can sit next to anyone and make a new friend.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by letting it permeate every aspect of my life. I choose not to do certain things like watch or listen to inappropriate entertainment because I know that those things will not bring me closer to my Savior. I choose to not eat or drink certain things because I know they will have a bad affect on my body. One of the most important things in our church is the family. I feel like spending quality time with my family members is another way I live my faith. Every member of our church has the opportunity to have a responsibility, or calling, in the church. I’ve had several callings throughout the years and they have been great opportunities for me to exercise my faith by serving.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Julie
Because of the Fall of Adam and Eve, all the people born on the earth would become mortal and would not live again once they died. Also, Adam and Eve suffered a spiritual death and were not able to be in God's presence. Jesus Christ made it possible for us all to overcome these challenges. The Atonement makes it possible for everyone to live again after they die. Also, we are able to be with God again through the precious gift of the Atonement. Show more Show less
