Hi I'm Marcelle

I grew up in Namibia, I speak three languages, we have two sons, one is Autistic and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of two little boys of which the older one is Autistic. I love to be physically active, sew, bake and spend time with my family. My children keep me busy, to say the least but i am learning to change myself and my attitude as I tackle my daily trials.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church along with my family when i was 12 years old. I remember just simply feeling right about it but it was when i read the Book of Mormon for the first time in high school that i knew that having a relationship with Jesus Christ and constantly striving to be like him is what makes me happy and gives me hope when times are tough. I don't get asked why i am Mormon everyday, but when i think about it is I am a Mormon because i have that constant in my life: the Savior Jesus Christ! He is my rock! He is my exemplar. By doing what he would do when someone is unkind i feel good about myself. By remembering that he has suffered all things i am strengthened during hard times. By remembering that he knows me and that he loves and knows every human being individually, i feel a unity with people from all walks of life and every part of the planet.

How I live my faith

My oldest son has Autism. Knowing that through the atonement of Jesus Christ I can 1. be helped with my daily trials in this life and 2. that my son will be whole in the next life gives me strength. That perspective carries me through on days when i feel like the typical ways of disciplining a child do not work on an Autistic. I find myself praying, seeking help and then finding help as i study the Book of Mormon. The help I need does not always come in the form of a solution. Sometimes in comes in the form of comfort from a friend who will remind me that I am being patient, or through a thought from the Holy Ghost that I am doing my best and that that is all that is required of me. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. He strengthens me when i am weak, especially when i read the Book of Mormon. The book gives me answers to my concerns by holding me up when i emotionally feel like i have nothing more to give. Through reading the Book of Mormon the Savior Jesus Christ helps me remember that my son too is a child of God who will be happier when he is an adult if i keep helping and loving him.
