Hi I'm Elaine

I am a wife, a mother of seven, and a grandmother of seven (lucky sevens!), and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy crocheting, traveling, reading literature, doing all kinds of puzzles, delving into history (including family history), candy making, and I have a passion for learning. I feel that music and art have been and are a major influence in my life. I enjoy creating art in many aspects. I am not world class at any of it but it does bring me great joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a rich heritage of ancestors in the Church and I love to read their stories. That however, is not enough to give me a testimony. As a child, I accepted my parents’ testimonies. My testimony came about in my teen-aged years (teen-age-dom is long gone now). I studied my family’s stories, researched other religions, and studied the scriptures. The most important part of the process was prayer. I now KNOW that I am a child of God; that Christ died for me (and everyone else too); that He was resurrected and lives for us all to come back to Heavenly Father; and that families can be forever. I know that for a testimony to be alive and well, it must be nourished (like a plant) with faith, service and prayer. This Church helps me to do that every day. Whenever I have a hard day, it helps me if, I remind myself of the truths stated above in my testimony. It also helps me to count my blessings and to remember that the hard stuff will forge me into a better person. I have had to move a lot in my married life. Wherever I go, I find the Church. It is my extended family. I have an “instant” support team wherever I go, and I can learn so much from everyone that I meet. I am able to serve in many capacities and learn to love so many people. There is always some music playing in my mind –hymns, classical, music from movies, pop, jazz, and even rock. Music can truly set the stage for a beautiful day. I find that when I listen to (or merely have it trilling through my mind), music that invites the Spirit, I am more apt to feel His direction and sustaining influence in my life

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities for service. One of my favorites is taking dinners in to new mothers. It was fun to work with the community to so service project as a humanitarian leader. It was an honor to plan and serve meals for a grieving family after a funeral as a compassionate service leader. Through out the years I have taught Sunday classes for almost every age group –each is special to me. I enjoy having “my kids” telling me how much they enjoyed and learned in my classes. I was also able to be a part of my sons’ scouting experience as a den leader for several years. I have found that I love my callings –even the ones that scare me at first, if I first truly love those that I am to serve. The rest comes with prayer.
