Hi I'm Matt

I love life. I love my family. I'm a city boy. I love anything that keeps me active. I'm random. I'm a MORMON...

About Me

I was born in Arkansas and grew up there until I was 12 and then moved to Oklahoma until I went on my mission to Southern California. Since I am from Arkansas, I am an Arkansas University Razorback fan. I love to watch football, basketball and track. I run for fun because I LOVE it. I also like to play basketball, football and swim from time to time. Essentially, I'm interested in anything that helps keep me active and moving. I love math. I love to talk to people and get to know who they are. I don't like talking that much though. I've always lived in the mid-west throughout my life and never made it past Utah or Idaho on road trips.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a mormon. I always relied on the testimony of my mom. I thought it was enough to know what she knew to be true. I found out real soon, after I started to serve a full-time 2 year mission, that this idea of mine wasn't going to cut it. I had to find out for myself whether or not what I was teaching was true before I could help them find any truth in what I was "testifying" of. I knelt down and prayed for many weeks to find out if the Book of Mormon was true. I finally received a confirming witness that it was and is true from the Holy Spirit. My question of why I was serving a mission went away. My question about whether or not the Book of Mormon was true was resolved. My desires and behavior were more in line with the will of God automatically. I felt a desire to share what I knew to be true with others stronger than ever before that I've felt. I felt so much more peace and happiness in my life from that time forth. I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that God prepares a way for us to find the truth, we only need to ask him. He's there ready and willing to answer your prayers. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God just as all the other prophets were and are. I know that he did indeed see God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I know that we have the authority of God on the earth to perform the saving ordinances necessary for all of His children to return and live with him. I know that he loves us all and knows us by name.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to those around me. A quiet and patient example is the best way to go in my opinion to influence others because they will see how you are and the way you conduct yourself. That goes a pretty long way. I also serve the needs of others in a temporal or spiritual aspect. Whatever they are in need of at the time. I do my best to live a selfless life for the benefit of blessing the lives of my friends and neighbors (my brothers and sisters of a Father in Heaven). I also enjoy doing random acts of kindness to make someone smile or feel important.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Matt
We definitely do NOT worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God and His Son Jesus Christ. However, we honor Joseph Smith's efforts and faith in making it possible to restore precious truths that were lost back on the earth under the direction of Christ himself and through heavenly messengers. In whom should we have faith?

Matt
We should have faith in Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus Christ we are able to receive strength beyond our own. If we have faith in Jesus Christ we will have a desire to serve others and do it willingly out of love for God's children. We will want to follow the example of Christ in all that we do and say.
