Hi I'm Brett

I'm a 3rd generation tree farmer, a husband and father of four, and an avid overweight hiker. And yes! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town, being one of the only Mormons in school. I lived my faith and proceeded to serve a mission for the LDS Church to Rio de Janeiro Brazil for two years. After the mission I graduated from BYU with my degree in Horticulture and Business. I then married in 2002 to a beautiful girl and had four children. I then graduated from WSU with my Master's in Horticulture. I currently work for a large Nursery farm managing the workforce to grow over 1 Million fruit trees a year. I love hiking and the outdoors, fishing, and fireworks.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been in the Mormon Church since 1841 in England; they traveled across the USA as pioneers and gave everything to their beliefs in Christ. However this is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ and that according to all things it was taught in the Holy Bible that the true gospel and church of Christ would be lost from this earth (2 Thes 2:3 and Amos 8:11). Joseph Smith was the man chosen by Christ to re-establish the true gospel and authority on earth. Remember that Paul in the New Testament saw Christ in a vision received authority and then labored to establish the true gospel in his day. All of this plays in to why I am a Mormon; I believe Joseph Smith was called by Christ to do this work. The Holy Spirit tells me this through my feelings. I also know that it is true because as I live the teachings given by the Church and the book of Mormon I have the same wonderful feelings. I know that my life is blessed and that I am successful because I live the gospel provided by the Mormon Church. The largest part of why I am a Mormon is that fact I am not scared, lost, or confused about life; I have a purpose and goal. I know who I am and that the true faith of Jesus Christ is like Prozac for the spiritual soul.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by giving my time without compensation. In a world as fast paced as the one we live in, time is money and extremely valuable. However I feel closer to Christ by giving as he did; Christ never had riches but had time. I serve in the church and community by being a Boy Scout master and young men's president. I try continually to find service for the Boys and myself to do in the church population and the community. I also live my faith by not smoking, drinking, keeping my self-clean, and fallowing the teaching provided by the Church.
