Hi I'm Kim

I grew up in sunny Southern California. I am a wife and a mother of 6 six children and I am living my dream. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dream was to have a big family. My husband came from a family of 6 and I came from a family of 7, so we planned on 6. We had our children very close together and 2 of them had Autism spectrum disorder which was particularly challenging while they were young. When my children were young, to say my life was crazy was putting it mildly. I have learned through the years to enjoy the precious moments of time I have with each of my children. Spending time with my family is my greatest source of joy! I love playing tennis, volleyball, and softball. I love the sunshine, the big sky, boogie boarding, camping, sewing, cooking, baking, hanging out with friends, and going to the movies. All of these activities are so much more fun when I get to do them with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a mormon. I loved being part of the mormon "family". I loved the activities I participated in during my youth. I felt the church was true, I believed all my life but I knew that until I read the Book of Mormon, I would not know for sure. In my early 20's I read the Book of Mormon and felt the truthfulness burning in my chest. I knew the church was true and have never doubted. I never doubted when I went to church and did nothing but walk the halls with fussy little kids. I knew I needed to be there and I wanted my children to know that I believed and wanted to be there. I want my children to know I believe so that one day they will have a desire to know for themselves. The greatest blessing is knowing that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know me. I know my prayers are answered, not always in my time frame, but I know he knows me and what is best for me. The Saviors atonement gives me the greatest gift of hope. Through all my trials and times of discouragement, I not only find peace but also joy. I am happy because of my faith and the great hope it gives me.

How I live my faith

It is easy for me to live my faith. I love being with people and helping others. Our church is all about serving each other not just our friends in church but our neighbors and also our community. Right now I am the chairman of the costume committee for my sons after school performing arts group. They are performing Seusical Jr. At church I work with the young women 12 to 18, I love this because I have 4 girls that fall in that category and get to hang out with them. I help the girls plan fun activities, service projects and assist them in achieving goals that will help them each grow individually. At home we try to eat dinner together each night. Just before bed we gather for prayer and each person has the opportunity to share what they are thankful for that day. Then we pray and hug each child. It is absolutely my favorite time of day. Sometimes this nighttime routine takes an hour because they all have something to share or they start giggling, or goofing around. It is a time where "magic" happens, our family is bonded together more by this one daily routine more than any great vacation or activity. By following our prophet to pray together has blessed and united our family better than any activity I could think of. We also follow the council of the prophet to set aside Monday night as a family night. A typical family night we will have a song, talk about events going on during the week, have a small lesson, play some games together and have dessert. My kids love family night. Sometimes we just go out for a hike or to the movies or invite another family over. I try each day to say my prayers, read and study my scriptures and look for an opportunity to serve a friend. I love to live what I believe. I love the hope I feel and the happiness this hope brings.
