Hi I'm Sister Mikinley Martin

I love being a Mormon!!!

About Me

I hardly know where to start! I am a missionary serving the church in the Scotland/Ireland mission for 18 months. My brother, Brantley is serving a mission in Anaheim, California. He came home August 19th 2014 and I left July 30th 2014, So I missed seeing him by 20 days. I miss him but I trust the Lord's plan for me. Soon my mission in the Scotland/Ireland mission will come to an end. I will return to "normal life" in Georgia and will be continuing on my journey. I cant wait to see my family and friends... but I will also miss Scotland and Ireland and the people that live here. I have learned that our Saviour knows us each individually and he loves us so much. I can feel our Saviour's love for each person I meet. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I love my family. I love to do do all sorts of things I am willing to give up for 18 months .... I taught myself how to sew, crochet, knit, bead and weave. I love the outdoors and have tried many activities and sports. I love repelling, kayaking, rafting, camping, hiking, soccer and swimming.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. But that did not make me instantly have a testimony or instantly believe that it was true. I had to gain my own testimony and know for myself that it was true. I can tell you now that I do know for myself that the church is true. I know God and His son Jesus Christ did restore the gospel through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. I know that the prophet today is a prophet of the Lord.

How I live my faith

So as a missionary what we do is study the scriptures, pray, and share what we believe with all who will listen. I love being a missionary and talking with people about the true joy that comes only through Jesus Christ.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Sister Mikinley Martin
The missionaries are so cool. They work and save their own money to go and teach people about Jesus Christ. They want to teach people the way to be happy. I am so glad that someone shared the gospel with my mom. Our family is happy because we have the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I love when the missionaries come to our home for dinner and lessons. The missionaries are doing selfless service. They will teach you and you will feel good when you meet with them because the Holy Ghost will testify to you and tell you that the missionaries are sharing a true message of the Savior with you. The Holy Spirit will make your heart feel warm and happy. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Sister Mikinley Martin
No. We think he was very important and we are grateful to him for what he did but we worship our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Sister Mikinley Martin
The Priesthood is the power and authority on earth to act in Gods name. Christ held the Priesthood and he did many wonderful things through that power. so worthy men in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can hold this power from God, to lead the church, baptize, and bless those who are feeling unwell or ill. I have had priesthood blessings from my dad they are so helpful and uplifting. he placed his hands on my head and blessed my with comfort and many other things that I have needed over the years. I am so grateful that he is worth and ordained to hold the priesthood. I'm very grateful for the restoration of Christ original church on the earth so that we have the power of God once again here to bless the lives of Gods children. Show more Show less
