Hi I'm Tawna

I love my family and I referee high school volleyball. I love sports and music. I love to travel and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fun-loving person and I love to meet new people. I have been married for 33 years and I love spending time with my hubby. I have been blessed to be able to stay home and raise my 5 kids. We have 7 grandchildren now and it is so much fun when we all get together to visit and play games. I love to go to movies, play the piano and organ, sing, listen to good music, play board games/card games, and read good books. I also love to play sports - volleyball, ping pong, softball, racquetball, and especially basketball. I love to stay in touch with friends via the computer and to remember their birthdays. My husband and I have been involved in local politics in the 3 states we have lived in - trying to make our communities better and help keep them conservative. We love to travel and we've been able to visit many states, Toronto, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and the Philippines. Part of my growing-up years were spent in the Philippines and I attended a Catholic school there (as a Mormon) - I was excited to go back after 40 years and attend my class reunion! We enjoy God's beautiful creations everywhere we go.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that God speaks to his children today through modern-day prophets. I read the Book of Mormon when I was 14 and I received a personal witness of its truth through the power of the Holy Ghost. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was taken from the earth after His Apostles were killed and I know that it has now been restored in its fullness, with the proper priesthood authority coming from God to Joseph Smith. It makes sense that God will not leave us alone, but will continue to provide prophets for His people in each dispensation. I believe in a Heavenly Father who loves us and this makes me want to serve others and follow Jesus. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for all of our sins and burdens and he was resurrected, which means that all of us can live with Him and Heavenly Father again. They have a plan for us and I am so grateful to know that I can live with my family eternally, as long as we live the commandments and obey the covenants we have made. I am so thankful for the principles of repentance and forgiveness. Life is difficult and we all make mistakes, but I know that our loving Father will forgive us as we repent and try again. Jesus showed us the way when He lived on earth and I am always trying to follow in His footsteps. It is a daily process and it is so good to know that we can get up when we fall short and try again. I believe in miracles and the tender mercies of God and Jesus! I know they are there to help us through this life and to give us strength and comfort when we need it. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow Christ - in my words and actions. I am trying to develop charity by serving others and loving everyone unconditionally. I love to read in The Book of Mormon every day, which lifts me up and gives me hope and strength. I know that God wants to hear from us so I pray every day and have a prayer in my heart. I try to teach the gospel to my family by being a good example of how Jesus would do things; I learn from my children and grandchildren, too. I also try to be friendly with my neighbors. Right now my "calling" is to organize sports for the women in our area and we are playing volleyball in the cultural hall (or gym) at our church building. It is a fun activity and we get to know the other women and also invite neighbors to come and join us. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it is my life. Everything I do is intertwined with how my Savior wants me to live and interact with others. I want to become more Christ-like in all that I do. I repent every day, because I know that I make mistakes. I know that I will be forgiven and that God loves all of His children. This is how I live my faith and show Heavenly Father that I love Him!
