Hi I'm Robbie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am super happily married of 12 years now and have loved every wonderful minute of it, as well as I am a proud daddy of two little ones: a 6 1/2 yr old girl, a 3 yr old little boy and expecting my third, another girl, in June this year. I recently began a new career in Information Security with an amazing company. This past year brought many challenges but as I listened to counsel from Church leaders and stuck to the little things of the Gospel, everything worked out and I am loving all that is going on. I love to read books, mostly fiction and fantasy, but I love all kinds of books. I love spending time with the family at home and on walks, going to movies, dabbling in web design and video editing, building and fixing PC's, golfing, and playing games on my Xbox 360.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. Following the gospel principles has always been a part of my life. I have never known anything different and so I was never really pushed to develop a true testimony of this Church and the gospel. In 1991, just prior to my 12th birthday, I was involved in a serious accident, involving fireworks, that almost claimed my life. I was protected that day and all I lost was a little vision in my right eye, a bit of hearing, and 3/4 of my left hand is now missing. I didn't understand how lucky I was until 4 years later while during a testimony meeting of a youth conference I realized just how much the Lord was watching over me that day and that He had (and still has) something greater in mind for me. I lost a bit of physical features but I gained a valuable strength to my testimony. I know this gospel is true and that our Heavenly Father and our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, are always aware of us. I know they hear and answer our prayers. I know that Christ lives and loves us very much. Why else would He have done what He did for us in the Garden and on Galgotha's Hill. I know they appeared to the boy prophet Joseph Smith and that through him this gospel and Christ's true church, has been restored completely. I know President Monson is our chosen Prophet today and love listening to him speak in General Conference. I know these things to be true with all my heart. I have asked and my prayer was answered in the affirmative. I know the Book of Mormon is an inspired book of scriptures and that it is true. I have seen it change lives and have felt it work miracles in my own. Of these things I humbly testify and know that they are true.

How I live my faith

Trying to live my faith in today's world can be very challenging. There is a lot that goes on that can be distracting. But I have found through church service and serving others, that this task is a lot less daunting. I have held many callings growing up in the Church. I have served as a leader working with the Young Men in the Church and loved every minute of it. The youth of the Church are amazing and I loved working with them and helping to teach them gospel truths and principles. I have served as a teacher in different church programs and I love to teach. I have never been a strong home teacher, but I know when I have the chance to go and visit with the families in my wards and bring them gospel messages each month, that the Spirit is there and blesses all involved. This world and life is crazy sometimes but I try every day to live the gospel teachings, both in my house and out of it, to the fullest. Some days are much easier than others, but life is so much better with the gospel and its teaching there.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Robbie
We have been taught growing up by the Brethren and church leaders for years that "every" worthy and able Young Man should prepare themselves to serve a mission. Young Women have also been encouraged that if they feel the push to go that they should prepare themselves to serve and to go. There are circumstances that will prevent some from serving, but the challenge has been issued and the call has been given that "every" worthy Young Man should serve a mission. I did and I loved every minute of the two years I spent abroad in the France Paris Mission. Show more Show less
