Hi I'm Mark Reed

I grew up in New Zealand. I'm a husband, a father of 7, and an engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in New Zealand, served a mission for the Mormon church in Australia as a young man, and later attended university in the United States. During that time, I met the wonderful woman who became my wife and companion. We have now been married for over 25 years and have been blessed with 7 precious children. We lived for many years in the Eastern United States and within the last year accepted a job assignment that gives us the opportunity to live outside the US an experience a different part of the world and new cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandmother joined the Mormon church in New Zealand, shortly before I was born, after being contacted by Mormon missionaries and being taught about the Church and its teachings by them. Several years later my parents were also baptized and joined the church when I was a young child. As a result, I was raised attending the Mormon church and with its teachings. I continue to be a Mormon because of the personal conviction or testimony I have and how being a member of the Church has blessed and guided my life. My testimony of the truthfulness of the Church has come and strengthened over time as I have studied, pondered, prayed, and lived the principles and teachings of the Church. My testimony is anchored on the Book of Mormon. I have read it many times and prayed and asked God if it is true. I have received the assurance and witness that it is. This testimony brings peace to my life since I know that I have a Heavenly Father who knows and loves me and has a plan and purpose for my life. I am also grateful to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and that through him I can receive eternal life. My life has been richly blessed because of my membership in the Church. The teachings of the Church and direction of inspired leaders have helped me make right choices that have led me to where and who I am today.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve in different capacities or callings in the Church. Since the Mormon church has a lay clergy, the local leadership and organizational roles in the Church are filled on a voluntary basis by Church members. In particular, I have had the opportunity to work with youth in the Church for many years. It has been a great experience to teach and guide young people in a most important time in their lives. It has been fun and very rewarding to see them progress in their lives and make good choices. Currently I am supporting the missionary work in my local congregation. This gives me the opportunity to work with the full time missionaries and the people they are teaching. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to help people understand the teachings and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
