Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in a little town in Arizona I retired from the military and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the Church but around my last year of High School and then for my time in the military I became inactive in the church. I believe up to that point I knew it was right But did not have a testimony that it was true .The teaching were always there in the back of my mind but I did not act on them. I married a beautiful young lady from the Philippines, she would always bugged me to take her to church, so I did, I took her to the church she had been raised in. She would come away telling me that something was missing that it just did not feel right So next Sunday I would find another church same denomination because that was what she was raised in. Again the same answer, It just doesn't feel right. we were in Utah visiting family and toured temple square. My wife and I from that point on have been changed forever. My mother contacted the Missionaries who then contacted my wife. I had just been deployed and was going to be gone for sometime. at this point in my life I both drank beer, coffee and I smoked, durning this deployment I noticed the conversations between my wife and I changing we talked longer and they were great conversations, . I did not know it at this time but she was taking the lessons with the missionaries, she finally told me she was taking the discussions. I was excited to hear this, I knew it was way past time for me to get back on track.Arriving home I asked if she was serious about getting baptized,She was Baptized. and I a'm fully active now.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because Of my wonderful ancestors who when they heard the gospel, the spirit testified to them that this was The Church of Jesus Christ here on the earth today. which gave me the background in the church. I had to find my own testimony, I read the Book of Mormon and prayed for an answer was this a book of God and was Joseph who he said he was. I know with every fiber of my being that The Prophet Joseph Smith saw our Father In Heaven and His son Jesus Christ in the first vision, I know that the book of Mormon is the word of God and that is backs up all the Bible teaches us, it does not contradict the Bible. I know this is our Saviors church and it is established as he had it set up in days of old. I know he is at the head of this church leading and guiding our Prophet here on the earth today. I know things must be done with authority from God not some school to be done correctly, to be of God it must come from God . I love my Savior and his love for me will uplift me and carry me through the rough things in my life. I know my Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers, I have had many sacred things happen in my life coming from keeping my faith in Christ and asking my Father in Heaven for guidance. Our Savior lives and is at the head of this church leading and guiding it.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith and my life as if the Savior was standing beside me when I make choices and how I conduct my life. My calling in the church is to work with the Missionaries and that is the best thing in the world.I know that the True Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift the world and the people can receive. so to see the change in a person who feels the spirit and know for sure that this is his church established on the earth, they light up with such a glow their whole being changes. I love being a part of that, plus as I study and pray and help with this It really makes my testimony much stronger. I believe and try to live my life as the savior would live his, knowing of course that at this point I am far from being as he is. But if I live my life following his teachings doing things in his name with all the knowledge and authority he sent here on earth, I can not possibly go wrong. He lives and I love him and will always be in his service.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Scott
I think the purpose of a Prophet is to eliminate confusion. God talks to his Prophet and gives him instructions and he in turn gives that word to us leaving no doubt as to what is expected of us or what he wants us to do. If the word came to many different people we would have many different versions of what was expected of us. The Prophet is chosen by Jesus Christ who is at the head of this Church, He is chosen to lead and guide the church today under our saviors guidance. Show more Show less
