Hi I'm Steven

I'm a husband, father, and financial advisor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Northern California and went to High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I was a missionary in Southern France for two years. I studied accounting in college. I'm a certified public accountant and certified financial planner. Shortly after my wife and I were married we lived in the United Arab Emirates. We enjoyed traveling together in Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France) and the Middle East (Egypt, Jordan, Israel, UAE). I have a son and daughter which bring me great joy. My favorite pass times include hiking, cooking, reading, learning, and time spent with family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because living my faith brings great joy to my family and me. It provides perspective and an understanding of what really matters. My convictions come from personal experience and deep feelings in my heart. Teaching my children and protecting them from the dangers of the world are two of my biggest concerns. In the Church we are taught principles of eternal importance with current application for the family. Resources are made available that have helped me teach my children practical lessons of life and an understanding of who they really are and who they have the potential to become. I find comfort in the confidence that my children can understand truth and how to find it. Some of my closest friendships in life have come because of my membership in the Church. Shared values and desires have created a natural bridge of friendship. These relationships have especially been strengthened in service to others. I believe in personal revelation. I firmly believe that God communicates with us, His children. Some of my most powerful experiences have come in simple, quiet, personal prayer. I know that God hears and answers prayers, although often not in the way or at the time we might expect. For me, answers have come as words to my mind, feelings in my heart, or a combination of the two. It is in this way that I have come to know that Jesus is the Christ and our Savior, and that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God to restore Christ's Church in our day.

How I live my faith

Living my faith starts in our home. My wife and I teach our children through simple routine to remember Jesus and try to be like Him. We pray individually and as a family. We study the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other scripture personally and as a family. We talk about how to apply what we are reading and share personal experiences of how we've seen the principles we are learning bless our lives. I try to be better every day. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of hope. Learning the laws of God and receiving the ordinances of His Gospel enables me to align my choices with His eternal priorities and be forgiven when I fall short. I learn about and seek to follow Jesus's perfect example. When I best live my faith I do as He did; teaching, loving, serving, and encouraging all on a path back to our Heavenly home.
