Hi I'm Joel Chambers

I grew up mostly in Oregon, and now live in Utah. My family is really important to me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a funeral director by trade. I have been working in this career now for over 30 years. I have a family, four children, and two grandchildren. My youngest is currently serving as a missionary in Georgia. My wife and I have lived many places, from Idaho to California, to New Mexico, and Utah. We have been married now for 31 years. We love to hike, and do some bicycling and love to spend time with our children and grandchildren. I enjoy history, and love reading those types of books. My Favorite author is David McCullough. The type of movies that I like are along the same theme, historical in nature, but I also like a good Science Fiction movie as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually born to parents who were members of the Church. This however, did not give me more then their belief. When I was a teenager, I learned for myself that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ is true. I love the scriptures. The feelings that overcome me as I read from them is overwhelming at times. Their is no doubt that these are the words of God. I am especially grateful for a living Prophet, I cant imagine a time in the world where a Prophet would be more needed then now to help us understand Gods plan for us. I know that he has been called of God, just as Moses was. I know that through him revelation is given to the World and to me. I know that Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father are alive, and care what happens to us and will do all they can to guide us back to them if we are willing to Follow their Prophet, and keep the commandments. I hope this helps you in your quest for the truth. For by the Power of the Holy Ghost He will manifest the truthfulness of all things to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live in a small city just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. I have served in the Church over the years in many ways. Currently I teach Sunday School to the Adults in my neighborhood. It has been very rewarding for me to spend the time in the scriptures and to feel the guidance of the Spirit as I prepare these lessons. I have also served as a counselor to the Bishop of my Ward, Worked with the youth, and also the Priesthood in different capacities. I am a home teacher, and have the opportunity to visit and help out four families in my neighborhood. I feel that great friendships have been formed by doing this service.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Joel Chambers
We do believe the Bible to be the word of God. If people follow the teachings they will be touched by the Spirit and be able to find the truth. It teaches of the divinity of Jesus Christ. It teaches us about the Holy Ghost, and the gifts that can be received by us when we have The Holy Ghost in our lives. It teaches about Covenants, and what we can receive if we are willing to take these covenants upon us. Show more Show less
