Hi I'm Greg

I am a Florida Gator living in Indiana. I am an I.T. Security Auditor and lifelong gamer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of four brilliant and unique children. My parents divorced before my teenage years but I have been able to maintain loving relationships with them both and their significant others. I enjoy science fiction and fantasy genre arts as well as Anime. I like playing many table top and electronic role-playing games. I say I am a lazy gardener because I dislike spraying and weeding but I still end up with more vegetables than I know what to do with. I learned to knit with my oldest daughter but have yet to complete a massive scarf project. In my work as an information technology security auditor I help to make sure that companies are handling personal credit card and private information in a secure manner. I have traveled across most of the United States and love finding local restaurants with unique dishes. I have my name on the wall of more than one establishment for completing their eating challenge. While I am no chef, I have been learning to make my own dishes inspired by the varied culinary delights I have seen along the road.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born and raised in the church, there came a time in my life that I had to learn for myself if I was ready and willing to dedicate my life to following the teachings of Christ and his prophets. This time came for me as I was departing to serve a two year mission for the church in a foreign land. Knowing that the purpose of this mission was to preach the doctrine of the church I felt that I had to know if what I would be teaching and asking other people to do was the truth. I had been taught to seek answers directly from God and I did go to him in prayer asking for my own witness to be a solid foundation and strength to see me through the mission and the rest of my life. The lord provides according to our needs and what I was given was a calmness and clarity that God was there, that he was mindful of me and that he had implemented a plan to help me personally live a better life and become like him. It is hard to describe the feeling of being loved but from this point on I have never doubted that God did love me and was always going to be there to help me straighten my life and actions and that I could, without reservation, tell others that he would be there for them as well.

How I live my faith

Within our congregation I am a clerk which means that I assist the Bishop with the administrative tasks of membership and financial data. In a carry-over from my work life I work to maintain the accuracy, confidentiality and security of this data. I also visit with member friends that are either actively attending or less frequent visitors to stay involved in their lives and look for opportunities to be a help and support for their needs and goals.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The word Bible has come to mean the primary written source of knowledge on a subject especially in terms of faith. As Mormons we read, respect and believe in the Holy Bible and its teachings which are clarified and supported by the additional prophetic writings which we also read, respect and believe in such as the Book of Mormon.
