Hi I'm Brian Johnson

I have 5 children, one on the way. I love playing with my kids, watching them in their activities. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Father of 6 (5 girls and 1 boy) and Husband to the most devoted and lovely wife in the world. I have visited all 50 states and love all kinds of music and all kinds of food (more food than I should). I love MY family!!! They are the best part of my life and their activities are my favorite activities. Personally, I love scuba diving, fishing, driving with great music blaring, watching college football and traveling with my family. I played Div I-AA college football and rugby (too many years ago). I’m an east coast Ivy League educated person that decided to raise his brood in the heartland (at first my wife’s decision). I am a Mormon (All my decision). Professionally, I’m an Orthopedic Surgeon that specializes in shoulder surgery and sports medicine.

Why I am a Mormon

Christ said in his intercessory prayer…And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Knowing the Savior is the main purpose and meaning we can find in life or Life eternal. Getting to know the Savior is more than just knowing facts about His life, such as, He was born in Bethlehem or baptized in the river Jordon by his cousin John. It is trying to feel as He would feel, love as He would love and live as He would live. I am oh so far away from this lofty standard and people who know me, know that. However I have had many personal and sacred experiences that have shown me that this is His church. I believe with all my heart that this is the path back to Him and that he is personally helping us in our attempt to follow Him.

How I live my faith

My faith in Jesus Christ and His Gospel is the most important influence in my life. Whenever I have important decisions to make or need daily inspiration to navigate life’s challenges, I look to the light of the Savior’s restored Gospel. There are so many things that clamor for our time in modern life and I have found that the 15-30 mins I invest in reading daily scripture is the best instrument I know to shape the other 23 & 1/2 hours. I am far from perfect. I attempt to live my faith the best I can. I have seen how the Savior can bring out the best in me, and those I love. I understand discipleship is a journey and by design, it can be a challenging passage. I know that many of the ways we grow often require sacrifice. However, the value of any sacrifice sincerely offered is always less than what is gained. I do not believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a crutch; It is an elevator powered by ones faith and commitment. Like many things, the more you put into it, the more you receive blessings from it. However, I have appreciated that in reality the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a life multiplier that uplifts, magnifies and changes me more than I could have realized otherwise. It has softened my heart, opened my mind and provided a path that helps me and my family as we attempt to model our life after that of the Master. The more I approach that path, the more I realize that it is the Savior himself that guides us through cloud and sunshine of this amazing journey called Life.
