Hi I'm Renae

I'm a wife again. I'm a mother. I'm a step-mother. I'm a grandma of 13. I'm a darn good cook. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was married for almost 27 years to a good man. I never thought I'd be widowed at age 47. It was shocking to have my husband die unexpectedly in an accident. Our two wonderful children were grown, and I found myself suddenly alone. I could not have survived without my faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ. It was His love that sustained me through the hardest trial I have yet faced. Though physically I was alone, I never felt abandoned. I felt the presence of the Savior in my life as never before. I was blessed with sweet peace in a turbulent time. I came to know that I am a daughter of God, and He knows and loves me. I knew the Lord was aware of me and wanted to help me. His tender mercies helped me feel His love. He answered my prayers many times. It helped me so much to talk to God, and pour out my heart to Him. I knew that he understood my pain, and only He could help me through it. Eventually, through the Atonement of Christ, my heart healed. I placed my faith in my Savior and let him direct my path. I was led to find a wonderful man on the internet, and we were married. He is a devout Mormon. He has 5 children that are a bonus and a blessing in my life. Together we have 7 children and 13 grandchildren, in whom we delight. My life is rich with purpose and joy. I feel so blessed to have a second chance at happiness! Happy marriage and a loving family give me a true sense of fulfillment.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, though my parents didn't go to church when I was a child. They both had a problem with alcohol. Our home life was far from blissful. Eventually, they reached a turning point in their marriage. Rather than end the marriage, they embraced the gospel and we experienced many positive changes in our family. My parents quit drinking. They got actively involved in the Church. We became a functional family. Eventually my parents were able to take us to the temple where we became a forever family. I have experienced life with and without the gospel. I wouldn't live my life without the safety of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is through obedience to the commandments that we find true happiness. The Plan of Happiness, outlined by the Lord, helps me understand my purpose in life. I know what the Lord expects of me. I am blessed with the Spirit of the Holy Ghost when I do what I know is right. I know for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times, and know it to be the word of God. Every page of the Book of Mormon teaches of Jesus Christ, and testifies that he is the son of God. Jesus is the Savior of the world. He loved us so much that he gave His life for us that we might repent of our sins and be able to live with God again. We are led by a prophet today, just as people anciently were led by Prophets. I am grateful to have the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a compliment and companion to the Bible. Following its teachings helps us draw closer to God. I love my life, and I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I like to give meaningful service to others. For many years, in my previous community, I organized blood drives several times each year. It was fulfilling to me to contribute in a worthwhile cause that made the difference between life and death for the recipients. As a boy scout, my son organized the largest blood drive in our community as he earned his Eagle scout award. The only drive that surpassed it was one that happened to be scheduled on 9/11. I was grateful to be able to participate in that drive on a day when everyone wanted to do something, but felt so helpless. I have served in many capacities in church, too. Mostly, I have been in leadership positions with the children, teenagers or women of the church. Currently, I am the president of our congregation's women's organization. We do all we can to love and care for those who need our help. It is a blessing to be of service!

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Renae
We have a loving Father in Heaven! He knows us better than we know ourselves. We can come to know Him, too. As we read the scriptures, which are the word of God, we will hear his voice if we listen. We need times of peace and quiet in our lives so we can think about the things we read, and ponder their meaning. We are so blessed to be able to communicate with God through prayer. We can pour our hearts out to Him. We can express our gratitude to Him. And, we can ask Him for answers. If we are patient, and take time to listen when we pray, God will answer our prayers when the time is right for us. He knows what is best for us, and we need to trust His timing. If we want to feel God's spirit in our lives, we need to follow His commandments. As we do so, we will be blessed. We will be able to put our trust in God, and He will be able to guide and direct us through the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. All of these things will help us to come to know God. Show more Show less
