Hi I'm Dennis

I've lived in 8 states in the USA. I work as an aircraft designer, and do architectural illustrations and portraits. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m a husband, father, and grandfather and very much love and enjoy my family, and enjoy watching my children and grandchildren grow and develop. I enjoy most just being with my wife. Since I love airplanes and flying I’ve worked in the aircraft industry as a designer/engineer for almost 30 years. One of the things I enjoy about flying is seeing the things below, so every time I fly someplace I get a neck ache from looking out the window most of the flight. I also enjoy air shows so a couple of years ago one of my sons and I tried flying from Texas to Oshkosh in a small home-built plane. We didn’t quite make it, but it was a great adventure. We did make it to Oshkosh in 2011 and enjoyed the extravaganza. At home I enjoy doing acrylic and watercolor paintings, and pencil and ink drawings. Also I enjoy eating berries so I grow strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in my back yard. We freeze a lot of them so my wife and I, and sometimes kids and grand-kids, can enjoy them on whole wheat waffles. I also enjoy riding a recumbent trike on the paved trails around the area where I live.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents and grandparents were Mormons so I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However as I got old enough for college I came to the conclusion, that even though they were good people and I believed what they taught, I needed to validate for myself and get my own confirmation that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. It’s been a fun and exciting lifetime journey of prayer, study, following the commandments of God, and patience to get my own confirmations. There have been a few times in that journey that the Holy Ghost has witnessed to me that certain things are true, and a couple of those times, when I was in the right place at the right time, the Holy Ghost witnessed that it was the Savior, Jesus Christ that I was in the presence of. In a life where much of what I do is based on what I see, touch, hear, smell, taste, and true scientific fact, I have yet to find something more solid, concrete and valid than a witness by the Holy Ghost. I have also found that life; the things you can see, and smell, and touch, and hear, and taste; the companionship of family and friends, the day-to-day activities; the challenges, tragedies and successes can be enjoyable and fulfilling when you can truly believe and put your faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ and receive help from the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I try to be kind and helpful to people I work with, people I meet, members of my church congregation, and especially kind, helpful and faithful to my wife. I regularly visit other families in our church congregation to share a message and give help and support when needed. Every Saturday morning for four months of the year my wife and I go to our church building and help and direct the cleaning of that building. At present I am also drawing and painting several large pieces of background scenery for a big musical production that will be presented in the large church building in our area.

In whom should we have faith?

An ancient prophet when he was teaching people about faith brought up a good point when he said: “...faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.” He then went on to explain how faith that’s based on something true, and is nurtured and cared for will continue to grow, develop and flourish. Jesus Christ taught with a similar example about faith when He said: “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Mustard seeds are tiny, but if you plant, nurture and care for one it can grow into a large, sturdy plant up to 10 feet tall. I’ve also experienced and observed that faith based on things that aren’t true just stops growing, and quite often it withers away and dies. Jesus Christ is true, someone that cannot lie, someone you can count on at 100% to do what’s right, and someone that what He says is, without a doubt, going to happen. The rest of us people on this earth are not so true. We have our problems, inconsistencies, and personal agendas. So who should we put our faith in? I would highly advise that we put our faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
