Hi I'm Tami Alvey

I am a wife, a mother of 9 children, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I used to be a single mom and had to work to provide for me and my three children. I worked full time at a salon that I co-owned and did hair as a cosmetologist, and also was a dance instructor to children of all ages. My life was hectic and I rarely found time for the simple basic things in life. Then I met the man that would change my life forever! He has 5 kids and with my 3, we have 8 kids full time! Not to mention one on the way! So we have "his, mine and ours" So now I get to be a stay at home mom that values the many "hats" I get to wear! I am a wife, a mother, a friend, a teacher, a chef, a seamstress, a taxi driver and much, much more! Some days are crazy and hard to manage between homework, scouts, activity days, church callings, my husbands business that I help with managing office work, keeping the house organized, personal projects, grocery shopping, laundry, and preparing meals. I thought my life was hectic before, but now I am busier than ever, but I have never been happier! The joys I receive from being a mother are often from those little teaching moments with the children. When I take the time to appreciate who they are, and what qualities they possess, and just sit back and enjoy time with them, I feel peace from Heavenly Father that he has entrusted me with his precious sons and daughters! What a privilege!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a Mormon. When I was young, I followed the example of my parents and leaned on their testimony until I became old enough to have a desire to find out for myself what I really believed in. I read the scriptures on my own as a teenager and prayed every night. I asked Heavenly Father one night if what my parents had been teaching me all these years was true; If Joseph Smith truly saw God the Father and Jesus Christ; and if the Book of Mormon was true; If The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true church. I couldn't even get through all of these questions in my prayer before my entire body was filled with a warmth and and overwhelming feeling of love and peace. Tears were streaming down my face. I had recieved my answer and knew without a doubt that my testimony was not my parents anymore, it was mine! And that is why I am a Mormon. Life is not easy, and I am far from perfect. I have made many mistakes that have taught me the hard way that when I make choices that lead me farther away from my Heavenly Father, I am not as happy or content with myself and life seems harder. When I choose to live my life in accordance with the standards of His church, that is when I gain the most peace and happiness in life! That is why I am STILL a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I serve in the community by doing Humanitarian Aid projects that benefit children in need. I visit neighbors regularly and I work with the Cub Scout Program as the Cub Scout Committee Chair Person. Basically that means, I oversee all of the boy scouts and their leaders and help them organize pack meetings and pass off achievements.
