Hi I'm Brian

I am a husband, father of four rambunctious boys, and a disciple of Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and proud father of four young boys. I am also a fifth generation Arizonan and a seventh generation Mormon. Many of my ancestors were Mormon pioneers who crossed the plains in covered wagons. Most of my time is occupied with family, church, and work; however, in my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, college football, hiking, and being outdoors. I have an affinity for knowledge and graduated with a college degree in Microbiology. I love to study the scriptures, the words of the prophets, and to seek daily to develop a closer relationship with my savior Jesus Christ. I served a two year mission for the Lord in Pennsylvania and enjoy telling my sons stories about my experiences there. I try to live by the words of President Dieter F. Uchtdorf: "In family relationships, love is really spelled t-i-m-e."

Why I am a Mormon

Despite being raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I had a strong desire to know for myself the truth about my ancestor's faith. I wanted to know about the existence of God and the claims of Joseph Smith to be his prophet. As a teenager, I read the Book of Mormon and pondered it's message. On one particular occasion, I remember being almost overcome by a feeling of peace and of God's love for me; it was an electrifying and life changing experience. Being scientifically minded, it is difficult to adequately describe in words what I felt, but inside I knew with a certainty more powerful than sight that God lives, that Jesus is his Son and my Savior, and that he called a young boy named Joseph Smith to bring light, knowledge, and the restored gospel to a darkened world. The knowledge I obtained through faith and the relationship with Christ I subsequently developed have been a life changing force. It gives me a sense of purpose and eternal vision by which to guide and anchor my existence. C.S. Lewis aptly encapsulates my feelings: "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because I see everything else by it." I know who I am, why I am here, and where I am going, not only in this life, but in the life beyond. I have come to know the truth of the words of Joseph Smith: "Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path the leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God." I have come to know that this joy comes by being a faithful husband, father, and disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have been given the opportunity to be a leader in my ward. With this trust, I have had many opportunities to serve the Lord by serving others. I have been blessed to work with and teach many young men and women and to share with them my love and testimony of the gospel. My relationship with Christ and my family are my most valuable possessions and I seek daily to be the kind of person that will bring honor to them. As the Lord taught Moses, ". . . this is my work and my glory -- to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." I have also made this my work, to be the hands of the Lord in reaching out to those in need and striving to bring the light of the gospel to the world. Although I am far from perfect, I strive to be, ". . . an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Tim. 4:12). I strive each day to be a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.
