Hi I'm Sandra

I'm mother of 11, grandmother of 36. I love music and love to share my musical talents with others and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my husband. Now that all our children have left home and we are retired, we enjoy visiting our children that don't live close to us. I love my children and grandchildren. I keep in touch with them by phone, e-mail, and social media. I have worked for a school as noon aid, crossing guard and custodian. I loved associating with my co-workers, the school children, the parents, and the teachers. I have taught piano lessons in my home. I enjoy teaching children, teens and adults. I love playing the piano, reading, and crocheting baby afghans. I enjoy playing board games. My favorite game is Scrabble. I run for exercise. I have completed two 5Ks and one 10K. I plan to run another 10K soon and hope to do a half marathon in the future. Running helps me feel good.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born of good parents who were members of the Church. My parents and grandparents were also born to members of the Church. I have attended church faithfully all my life. When I was 18, I finally read the Book of Mormon through from cover to cover. I had read it before enough to get by in my church classes and seminary, but hadn't really read it through all the way. When I came to the last chapter of the last book in the Book of Mormon, I read Moroni's exhortation to ask God if the Book was true. I decided to do it and when I did, I felt a warm feeling come over me and I knew in my heart that the Book of Mormon was true. I have read it over many times now, and receive the warm feelings many times as I read. Knowing that the Book of Mormon is true helps me know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that we have a prophet also today: Thomas S. Monson. I also know that my local leaders are inspired by God as they lead and teach us. I feel my Savior's love when I go to church, go to the temple, kneel in prayer with my husband and family, read the Bible, the Book of Mormon and other scriptures and talks from our Prophet and Apostles. I love my Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, who atoned for my sins in the Garden and died for me on the Cross. I am thankful to them for my life and many blessings.

How I live my faith

I enjoy my assignment as a visiting teacher in my ward. I love the women I visit. They are like sisters to me. I have enjoyed many different callings and assignments in my ward. I especially enjoy playing the organ for church and the piano for the women's meetings or the children's meetings. I have also enjoyed teaching in the nursery. Nothing is sweeter than helping the very young children learn to love coming to church. Teaching older children, youth, and the women have also been rewarding callings. Being active in my ward brings me many opportunities to serve the community with service projects. I have participated in projects to help homeless people in our area and to help send relief to disaster areas.
