Hi I'm Ami

I am a foodie. I love to see the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being a millitary-brat, I lived in and traveled to many wonderful places in the U.S.A. and around the world, and I have continued to enjoy travel as an adult. Some favorite places I've been are Germany, France, Indonesia, and China. I experience life and culture through food and my husband and I take a jaunt each year to Las Vegas, almost exclusively to enjoy some gormet fare. I have two delightful children and one on the way. Second to being a mother, my dream job would be a travel critic where I would review the food and accommodations because that would combine my two great loves and enable me to experience the wonderful, beautiful peoples of the world. I also find great joy in reading the classics because of how beautifully they expose human nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know The Church of Jesus Christ is true. I am not perfect, but I have never doubted that fact. I remember the feelings I've had, even as a young child, as I've learned about Jesus Christ and the simple truths of His Gospel. That feeling has a name - it is the Holy Ghost, or the Spirit, which teaches your spirit that the things you are learning and feeling are right and true and from your Heavenly Father. I have always known that I am literally a spirit daughter of God. This knowledge fills me with self-respect and determination to be the best that I can be so that I can be worthy to live with my Father again after this life. I am a Mormon because I know that Christ lived on the earth many many years ago, that His Father gave Him as a sacrifice because He loves us that much. No matter how hard we try, we will never be perfect as Christ is, and so Christ shed his innocent blood so that we can be pardoned from punishment of sin if we will do our part and be baptized and repent of and forsake our sins. I know that the truth was taken from the earth for a time, until a young farm boy named Joseph Smith saw the Father and Jesus Christ, and was instructed by them to restore the truth to the earth. He suffered tremendous persecution but because he pressed forward, the gospel and the Holy Priesthood is here again. My husband, father, and brothers hold this priesthood, and it has blessed my life in more ways that I can say. It has literally healed me, comforted me, and has blessed me with the potential to live with my Father in Heaven again. I am a Mormon because I know that we have a living Prophet, just as in days of old, who is God's mouthpiece to us. I have felt the Holy Ghost witness to my spirit that He is called of God to be my prophet, and that if I obey him, I will be truly happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to keep the commandments of God, and by trying to be a better person today than I was yesterday. It doesn't always work out that way, but I'm moving in the right direction. I know that Jesus Christ offers a completely different happiness than the world does - a happiness that is real and lasting, not just in this short life but long after. The world teaches us that we can find happiness in living for ourselves, by making ourselves happy through our own success or fame. The problem is that this kind of happiness doesn't last. I know that true happiness comes in living righteously and in giving of ourselves to God and to our fellowmen.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Ami
The law of chastity is the commandment that no one should have sexual relations before marriage, and that such relations should be kept within the bonds of marriage - between husband and wife only. Like every law of God, the law of chastity is a law which will make us HAPPY if we follow it - after all, happiness is what God wants for His children, whom he loves dearly. Also like many laws, this law PROTECTS us, both spiritually and physically. Sex is a gift and a power created for our happiness by God. It greatly strengthens the bonds between husband and wife. It is a wonderful thing that God wants for us... if it is used the way He designed it to be enjoyed. Abusing this gift and power is sure to bring heartache and lack of self-respect. I have never known anyone who is truly happy and at peace while being sexually promiscuous. It is far too risky - physically and and emotionally - to toy with this sacred trust the Lord has in us. Of course it is not easy to avoid temptation, but the Lord will help you, pray to Him! The rewards far outweigh the strength it takes to resist until marriage. For those who have broken this law of chastity, Jesus Christ has made it possible to be made clean again. Repentance takes effort, but He wants you back. Show more Show less
