Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a mom. I speak German. I'm a great cook. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the 5th of 8 kids. We had some great adventures together! Now I have 4 kids of my own and a wonderful husband. I love to read biographies, historical fiction, cookbooks and parenting advice. I served a mission in Germany and I love the people, culture and language. Hiking and camping are some of my favorite things to do with my family. I love my family and my neighbors too, and I love to help them with anything I can whenever I get the chance.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I learned about the church because I was born into an LDS family, I have have chosen to stay with it because I have felt the Holy Spirit telling me it's teachings are true. I have felt this through both the good and the hard times in my life. When I have had struggles, I have always known that God was my father and that He knew who I was and that He loved me and cared about me. When I was a child, my parents got divorced and it was a very frightening time. But through all of the uncertainty of that time, I could feel very clearly that God was with me and watching over me. I knew I was His child and that He knew who I was. This feeling has continued my whole life; I know that I don't ever have to be alone, because I can always pray to my Heavenly Father, and He hears and answers my prayers. Now that I have a family of my own, I want to live the way the Savior has asked us to live, so that I can be with my family and my Heavenly Father and Savior again in the next life. Knowing about Heavenly Father's plan for me as an individual, and about His plan for families, gives me the peace and strength I need to raise my kids and be happy in a sometimes frightening and tumultuous world!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday by following Jesus' example. I try to remember that everyone--even people who are very different from me--is also a child of Heavenly Father. There are a lot of people who feel alone and don't know how much God loves them. I try to live my life as a reflection of Jesus' love, so the people who don't know about His love for us, will have a way to find out about it. Knowing too that your children were Heavenly Father's children first, puts a whole new perspective on parenting! I love my family and I love my friends and neighbors! Serving them makes me very happy! Praying to Heavenly Father and studying His words in the scriptures every day is another way I live my faith. Many times as I have prayed and studied, I have received personal inspiration on how to raise my family or how to handle a problem. I have received thoughts that have helped me have a greater knowledge of God's plan for me and how I can follow it better. I have developed a closeness to God by doing these things. Right now at church I serve by teaching the adult Sunday School class. Sometimes this can be very intimidating! But it has been a great opportunity to pray and study more, and that has helped me learn more about God's plan for us, and about the Savior. I have also served for many years teaching different ages of children on Sundays. This is something I have always enjoyed immensely! I just love watching how their brains work. They are so creative, and they have such a pure way of understanding and accepting Jesus' teachings. Some other ways I have served include helping with the women's organization and serving as a volunteer missionary in Germany. Seeing how learning about the Church of Jesus Christ changed people's live for the better in Germany, and seeing how difficult life's challenges can be without it, really helped me to see that this is truly the Savior's church on earth.
