Hi I'm Matt

I am a father and husband. I love to do woodworking. I am finishing a doctorate degree in percussion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently finishing doctoral studies in percussion performance. I love to play the drum set, marimba, timpani, and any instrument you hit with a stick! I grew up in a very loving family with 6 children, of which I am the youngest. My wife and I have been married for 5 years and we have 2 children. I love spending time with my family, woodworking, building drums, and being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel principles taught in the Church consistently lead me to happiness. The leadership of the church is made up of a prophet and apostles that are inspired by God to lead us in the path of righteousness. The Book of Mormon, however improbable its truthfulness may seem and no matter how ridiculed it may be, is true. I continually read it and find that its stories and teachings truly testify of Christ and his gospel. Because it is true, I also know that Joseph Smith, its translator, was a true prophet of God. The truths that I hear from our living prophet in our day, and read in the Bible and Book of Mormon, are reenforced in the everyday experiences of my life. It is a hard church to be a member of because it demands my very best. I wouldn't have it any other way.

How I live my faith

I go to church each week with the hope to possibly help someone else, and receive spiritual guidance. In my ward, my calling is to help people find employment. I love that everyone has a responsibility. This is not a church where you come and just listen. As a Mormon, each individual is asked to give meaningful service to others. Being a Mormon is a lifestyle, not a religion. Hardly a moment of my life passes that I don't think of the tremendous impact that the church has made in my life.
