Hi I'm Jamie

I'm a military wife. I homeschool my 5 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to a wonderful military man and have 5 great kids. We have chosen to homeschool for many different reasons, one being that we move around a bit. I love to read about homeschooling, parenting, and trying to read classics.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon. Not too long after moving into a new house, I became acquainted with a Christian non-LDS neighbor and started to think our beliefs weren't very fair. Why would I believe that because I've been baptized into the Mormon church that I would be more blessed than this other woman who is doing MORE than everything right? I know really good people that DO NOT want our church in their life so this fairness question kept haunting me. Those thoughts led to questioning what our church believes and even if Jesus was real or a ficticious story. I FINALLY had a passion for finding TRUTH. I wanted to know for myself. That search led to more doubts and then nothing made sense anymore. Around this same time, I got a church calling to teach the women's class once a month which scared me to death. As much as I trip over my words and get nervous in front of a crowd, not to mention questioning what I'd always believed, I still said yes to the call. And this was what I needed. I'd always gotten good grades without much effort so I'd never learned how to study. Now I had motivation. I couldn't get in front of a group to teach a class without KNOWING the material so I read and studied. The topics I'd been assigned were answers to questions I had or topics I didn't know I had questions about. Through this experience, I felt my Heavenly Father knew what I needed. He taught me answers and taught me how to find more answers. I was gaining a small testimony but I still had lots of questions. Then I was invited to attend a meeting for teaching us 4 teachers. The spirit was there throughout the whole meeting. I couldn't believe how much peace and comfort I felt. That's when I knew it was all true. It all felt right. A simple hour of constantly feeling the spirit was amazing. I still don't have answers to all of my questions, but I do know that my Heavenly Father loves me. He knew I was struggling and gave me peace and He gave me the tools I need to keep searching.

How I live my faith

I attend church each Sunday. I'm the Cub Scout Committee Chairperson and am trying to get the Cub Scout program more organized in our building. We have around 20 boys that come regularly. I also attend a local homeschool group so my kids can have fun with other kids and I have adult conversation time.
