Hi I'm Chad Stapley

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Chad, Im 24 years old. I served a mission in the Peru, Lima south mission. I go to MCC and work full time at Batteries Plus. I come from a healthy family that will always be there for me. There are 11 people in my family, including my step brothers and sister. My dad died when I was 12 and my mom later remarried.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was always taught in the ways of the church. I have never doubted it, even when I didn't like to participate in the church activities when I was younger. I'm a member of this church because I chose to be. I chose to be a member because I have felt and still continue to feel the Holy Ghost tell me that everything taught from the church is true.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I go to church. I never work on Sundays becasue I make it clear to my boss and managers that I can't work on Sundays. I wont accept a job that requires me to work on that day. I enjoy reading my scriptures because I learn so many valuable things from them that I can apply to my own life for improvement.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

In order for the true church to survive, certain things need to be present: Priesthood, Revelation, and Prophets. Priesthood is the authority, right, and power that God gives to man in order to perform essential ordinances, like baptism, and to act in His name. Revelation is the opposite of prayer, it's when God speaks to us, while prayer is when we speak to God. A Prophet is a servant of God that is directed through revelation, he also holds the priesthood authority in order to preside over the church. God will only run His church through His prophets (Amos 3:7). Baptism is an essential ordinance to have and without it we cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5). In order to baptize, one must have the priesthood to perform it. Jesus Christ had the priesthood (heb:5) and was baptized by John the Baptist, who also had recieved the priesthood. In His ministry, Christ organized His church, called 12 men to be His apostles, and gave them authority to baptize and act in His name (Matt 10). After the departure of Christ, the 12 apostles were the remaining men with the priesthood, and were guided by revelation. Once all of those priesthood holders died there was none else with the authority to baptize and none else to recieve revelation. The church was lost as profesied in Amos 8:11-12. Joseph Smith was guided through revelation to restore the church in the 1800's. He was called to be a prophet and recieved the priesthood. Priesthood, Revelation, and Prophets exist today.
