Hi I'm Debra

I am a mother and grandmother, and love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom of five and a grandmother of 10. I'm a ceramist and love to do creative things. I also enjoy different sewing projects. I like to decorate and redecorate. Holidays are especially fun for that and it offers an opportunity to create new and fun memories for the kids. I love to have family together and so we try to have dinners and bar-b-ques often. We are in the retired stage of life and it is giving me and my husband a great opportunity to be together and do all the things we didn't get done before around the house. The gardening is a lot more fun, doing it together. I love to curl up with a good book, while my husband watches the ball games and we relax together in the evenings. But most of all I like to talk to friends, family and neighbors and share their thoughts, goals and ideas.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in to this church, but I am a member because I have gained knowledge of my own of the truths that this church teaches. There is a Prophet that lives on this earth today. I feel such a wonderful feeling when I hear his words and know that I have a loving Heavenly Father that cares enough to guide us through him. The Priesthood has been restored and miracles still happen today through this great gift. I feel so blessed to have the scriptures in my life to help give guidance and direction to my life. Prayers are heard and answered in my life, which further testifies to me that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father that really knows me and cares. I feel so blessed to have the atonement in my life and a loving Savior-Jesus Christ-that cared enough to pay the price for my imperfections, so that I may return to live with my Heavenly Father. Eternal life with my Heavenly Father, my Savior and my family for the eternities is my hope, prayer and goal in my life. I am glad that I have been given this church and it's teachings to help me get there.

How I live my faith

I have been able to do many wonderful things in my life time to bless my life, my family’s life and the lives of others. It is fun to visit with many of my neighbors and friends and help when they are in need of a friend. Putting together great workdays and socials for the adults in our church have helped me and others to learn new talents and have fun evenings of friendship. Teaching the small children the importance of Jesus Christ in their lives, that they are special children of a loving Father in Heaven and that they must stand for the right in their lives has been fulfilling too. Scouting have been a way that I have helped several generations of cub scouts to gain confidence in themselves and to gain meaningful values to use in their lives. It has also been wonderful to work with the young women ages 12-18 to build confidence in themselves, and testimonies of the Savior for themselves. This has also included many chances to go to girl’s camps to do craft, cook great meals, and just be with these great girls. We have had pioneer treks that I have been able to help with meaningful activities to give all of the youth experiences in the trials and hardships that the pioneer faced; this has helped them to face challenges in their lives today. The chance has also come to me more recently to be in charge of a great humanitarian effort in creating over 2500 quilts and other needful items for the New Borns in Need in our community and also for the worldwide humanitarian effort throughout the world. It feels good to know that I helped in a small way. But I think the best way that I have lived my faith is one day at a time. Trying to do something each day to make it a little brighter, easier and filled with concern and love for those around me, especially my family. Hopefully I can lift another and by so be lifted myself because of it.
