Hi I'm Joy

I was born in Oregon. I love to play the organ at church and enjoy quilting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of my favorite pastimes is playing the organ. I have taken lessons for ten years and enjoy using the skills I have learned as a volunteer organist for our church. It is rewarding for me to play the hymns in church and help others worship through music. Another hobby of mine is making quilts. It is fun to create with fabric and stitching and it is especially rewarding to give away my creations. Another hobby I have is knitting, which I use to make baby afghans for my grandchildren. Speaking of grandchildren, I love being a grandmother and have so much fun relating to my six grandchildren. I am also a piano and organ teacher and feel greatly rewarded in passing these skills along to others. I enjoy going camping and bike riding with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church all my life. As a young adult I decided to find out for myself whether or not the religion I was living was true. After reading the Book of Mormon, I prayed about its truthfulness and received an answer in the affirmative. I cannot deny the strong feeling I received that this gospel is true. As I continue to read and study the Bible and the Book of Mormon, my testimony of the reality of Jesus Christ as our Savior is strengthened. This means so much to me, especially in today's troubled world. I have a lot of support and direction from our church leaders, without which I feel I wouldn't know where to turn. I am so grateful for modern-day revelation and for a living prophet now on the earth.

How I live my faith

I attend church each week and play the organ for our worship service. I am also in charge of selecting the hymns that we sing and the musical numbers that are performed during the worship service. In addition, I help with the women of the church when they are in need of extra assistance. I do this by organizing meals to be taken into their homes and rides to doctors. I also organize food for meals after funerals are held. I visit women who are recovering from surgery or just need a friend. This opportunity for service has been a special blessing in my life, helping me realize the love our Savior has for each one of us. Also, I understand that the Savior helps those on earth through the service that we humans do for each other. I enjoy attending the nearby temple, where I so strongly feel the spirit and love of the Savior.
