Hi I'm Tom

I'm a son, husband and father. I was born and raised in New Mexico, now living in the Seattle area and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my beautiful wife for 19 years and have three beautiful children. I do the very best I can to be a good husband and father. I love doing activities and having fun with my family. I love to see my oldest daughter play volleyball, my son play baseball and my youngest daughter dance. I am so proud of the accomplishments they have achieved thus far. I love my job and I'm good at what I do. I enjoy sports, especially baseball from Little League to professional. I grew up a Los Angeles Dodger, Dallas Cowboy and Chicago Bull fan, but I don't get to see any of them much. I like all types of music, movies and books. I like to play video games. I like scale models of anything. Model cars, trains, city and country scenes, and legos. I love to learn new things and want to learn as many as I can. I have learned from my kids to be patient, accepting and loving. I have learned from my wife not to stress the small stuff, or the big stuff either.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't know about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints until I had met my then girlfriend Tiffany. She invited me to church one day and I agreed. I hadn't been to church in a few years and found it interesting and different. Growing up Catholic I didn't know any other way of doing Sunday services other than the one I knew. When Tiffany and I got married and started a family, I continued to attend church with her and our kids. I wasn't baptized in the Church because I thought I wasn't good enough to belong to the LDS Church. In 2001, I lost my job and became angry with everything and stopped going to church. Tiffany and the kids continued to go while I stayed home feeling depressed and looking for work. I returned to school, graduated and found a job that I love and still do to this day. But I was still depressed at times. I looked at my family and wondered what was making them happy. What were they doing that I wasn't. What was missing in my life. They were going to church and living the gospel. I started to make changes in my life to be a better person. Eighteen years after Tiffany introduced me to the LDS Church, I got baptized. I have noticed the difference in my life. I am happier now than I have ever been and have noticed that my family is happier also. I still don't think I'm good enough to be a member of His church, but I'm a better person today than I was eighteen years ago.

How I live my faith

My job is a 24/7 operation. Meaning that sometimes I have to work on Sundays and the enviroment I work in isn't the best. I pray often to Heavenly Father for strength and to not let those things at work come between me and the way I live my faith. I try to help in everyway that I can at work and at church. I helped with the young men in Boy Scouts and now I work with the men in our church. As with my job, I find joy and happiness in serving and helping people. I am far from perfect, but praying, reading the scriptures (the Bible and the Book of Mormon) and attending church helps me to come closer to our Heavenly Father. We pray as a family everynight and I often look up to them for guildance, inspiration, and strength.
