Hi I'm Mary.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from a family of six kids. My parents divorced when I was five and I remember little of our lives before that time. Traveling between parents homes I grew to have five best friends in my siblings and I have truly been blessed to be a part of the family that I am. I studied Business Management in college. After graduation, I like many in this economy struggled to find employment but was fortunate to have family interested in investing in run down houses. Its funny because many would assume when I told them what I did that I simply hired others to do the work. However, with the help of my siblings (one of which owns a construction company) I was able to learn many of the aspects of remodeling and fixing up houses. It was hard work and incredibly demanding but to see the houses completed was an amazing feeling of accomplishment. Since that time, I have married a great man and work for a local nonprofit doing Human Resource work. I love helping and serving others. So many say that they want to become something to help people. It's amazing that in all the variations of work that we do, we each help others in our own way. I love to be with friends and family, to have a garden and to work with flowers. I am trying to sew a quilt for my new nephew and am learning that it takes a lot of talent to do so... it is a work in progress!

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm Mormon? The simple answer is because it brings me great joy. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored and I know that. Over time I have come to gain understanding of many of the commandments God has given to us. They make sense both on a temporal and a spiritual level. Top things I love and know because of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ: I am a child of God and so are the people I pass every day, I am loved by my Father in Heaven, I can become perfect through Christ, the Spirit can teach me truth in all things, families can be together forever, the family is the essence of life and in it one can discover a small piece of heaven but it takes work. As I look back over my life thus far, I realize that it has never really been easy but it has been wonderful. Growing up we were always laughing, serving and learning to love better. I know I have a long way to go but its exciting to be alive and to have hope for all the future has to offer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. Prayers help me focus on the future instead of getting distracted or discouraged by the here and now. Scripture study helps me learn to recognize my Savior. Serving others helps me become like Him. Laughing and loving help me to enjoy every day. In the church I am very lucky and get to work with the women in our congregation. We meet together weekly (one hour as a part of church). It is awesome to have that time where we as women teach and edify one another. I learn a lot from those around me. Where else do you get to join a group of women of all different ages and background and discuss in depth about gospel and life principles?! It is wonderful. I am pretty young compared to many around me in this organization and so it is in serving them that I learn so much from them.
