Hi I'm Nate

I am a husband. I am a father of seven. I love being outdoors. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have seven children that occupy most of my time. My children range from teenager(s) to infant. We spend our time watching our children compete in sports, show 4-H pigs, participate in school events, and much more. Our best memories are our family camping trips. We "require" it at least annually. I work with my brother-in-law operating a small business. We distribute landscape bark and other wood products by the rail car load throughout the West. I enjoy the flexibility and opportunities of this relatively new (to me) career. While my days are filled with the busy life of a father, I dream about my next opportunity to be in the great outdoors of Idaho, hiking, fishing and/or hunting with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me the gospel in a loving home. I was baptized at eight years old. However, it was while serving a mission in Northern California that I really began to recognize and develop a strong, personal testimony. First, I fell in love with the Book of Mormon. The prophets of that book seemed to speak to me - personally. I remember a specific, testimony building moment while reading in the final chapters of Second Nephi. As I read, I "felt" the voice of the prophet Nephi. The Holy Ghost communicated with my spirit to confirm that what I was feeling was a witness that the words were true. In reflecting back on my life, I had felt that witness many times before but it was not until that moment that I first put it all together. Today, as I serve, and live, I continue to feel that witness and confirmation of truth. I see the powerful influence that the gospel has in the lives of those I see each day. I also, sadly, sometimes witness the struggle and emptiness found in a life without the gospel's guidance. I want my children to be happy. I have learned for myself that their happiness in this life can best be achieved when they follow the example of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because my Savior established His church on earth - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being a Mormon brings me peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve in my local ward. As a part of my responsibilities I have the opportunity to work with the youth. I love being a part of the growth of these great kids. I get to help with scouting as well as the gospel learning. The other members in our area are the kindest, most helpful people around. We spend at least one evening a week - just as a family. We take time as a family to learn some gospel principles as well as play together. Our children look forward to Monday nights and of course the games and treats. We live in a rural community and enjoy the opportunity we have to help our neighbors. We participated in a regional service day that was so rewarding. I think those that served were blessed in a bigger way than those we were serving. I know we are blessed because we watch out for one another. When I see neighbor helping neighbor I know I am witnessing the gospel of Jesus Christ in action. Besides these activities I also am a 4-H leader and hunter education teacher. I love working in these settings with young people who are eager to learn and interested in the world around them.
