Hi I'm Chereese

I am a junior. I wear hearing aids. I love piano, sports and pinterest. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 16 years old and the youngest of 6 children. I've been a fan of sports and any outdoor activities since I can remember. When I was three, my family realized that I was hearing impaired, and ever since then I've had to wear hearing aids. I have a moderate to severe hearing loss, and without my hearing aids, I rely much on lip reading and very loud conversation to understand what people are saying. It has affected everything that I do, and how I think about myself. For a long time I was very self-conscious and paranoid, but I am finally able to see my worth and understand that there is more to life than what people think. I love all sports, but my favorite is track and field. I absolutely love pole vaulting and recently went to a state competition placing 9th in state. I read in my spare time. I play the piano and am currently writing my own song. I hope to play the violin as well someday. Oh and I LOVE pinterest. I could spend days on pinterest and not get tired.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but around the time that I turned 12, I began wondering if the church really was true. I had been reading my scriptures in the Book of Mormon, and I wanted to know for myself, if the words were true. So I knelt down on my knees and prayed. I didn't get my answer for a while, but I continued reading. And one day, after I had been going through some trials with my hearing loss, I went to the LDS (mormon) temple, and as I was sitting in the chapel, I pulled out the Book of Mormon. As I was reading, I felt this power come into my chest. It was a feeling of peace and love unlike anything I had ever felt. Ever since that day I have always known that the gospel is true. I have repeatedly felt that feeling of love, given to me by the Holy Ghost, and I CANNOT deny Jesus Christ, my Savior, without denying everything I know to be true. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me, and I have seen the blessings that He gives us. I have felt the Holy Ghost witness to me that Jesus Christ did die on a cross for us, so that we might be saved. I know that I can return to live with my family and Heavenly Father again, and I await that day patiently.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in the church. I have served as President of the beehives (12 and 13 year old girls), as well as secretary for the mia maids (14 and 15 year old girls) and I am currently serving as a second counselor for the laurels (16 and 17 year old girls). This gives me the chance to serve the girls in my ward and try to make the world a better place. I find opportunities to serve by participating in the church choir and doing acts of kindness to random people. I strive to be an example to the people around me and to live my life in the most pure way.
