Hi I'm Nina

I was born in Cuba, came to the USA as a political refugee and grew up in Miami, Florida. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am came to the USA as a political refugee, from Cuba with my parents and sisters when I was 6 yrs old. At twelve year of age I was introduced to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and became baptized. I have been married to my loving husband for 31 years and we have 6 children who live their testimonies. We are proud of our 8 grandchildren who are learning to grow in their love for Jesus Christ. My husband and I have educated ourselves so we can work as clinical therapist, and we love to work with people. I have a BS in Psychology and a Master in Social Work. As a couple we have run many marathons and we love to run. We enjoy physical exercise and are grateful for the health and abilities to experience life, as a couple and with our family. We loved working and playing with our sons and daughters when they were all young and lived at home. My husband and 3 of our sons are in business together. We love to travel and so we enjoy visiting our children, that don't live in our town. I love gardening, and really enjoy cooking and trying to cook healthy meals.

Why I am a Mormon

I recognized that the missionaries, teaching our family, were sharing divine truths. Through the light of Christ I felt the witness of the Holy Ghost touch my sprit and answer some of what I had not been able to understand, such as what happens to children that die before baptism. The plan of salvation is based on the Love of Our Heavenly Father. He has made it possible for families to be sealed together so that children are not lost, when they die before baptism. Heavenly Father wants us to be families forever. It is through our Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement that we are able to repent, make ourselves better and one day be able to be resurrected. I have a son that has been very ill with a chronic illness and through this adversity I leaned on the blessings of Comfort from the Holy Ghost and had to accept Heavenly Father's Will. Our family grew stronger in our faith and we had to be patient and accept His timing.

How I live my faith

Its nice to serve through callings to in the church. I have had a variety of callings and have learned so much from each and everyone of those positions. Presently I teach with my husband, in the primary, a group of 8 year old boys and we are studying the New Testament. It is so wonderful to help them to gain the knowledge to build a testimony of Jesus Christ, his example of love service and His teachings. Serving the Young Women was delightful not just because I was able to spend time with young women but also because my daughters were part of the group. I love how many opportunities I have to help others and serve them. It makes me proud that as a Mormon woman we have a great society of women making things better for the needy, the sick the poor.
