Hi I'm Mary

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. I am am Mortgage loan processor, a hobby sewer, and a mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of two boys, a wife to a wonderful husband. I work full time as a mortgage loan processor. I love to sew and to spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have seen the hand of God in my life many times over. Even though I don't feel that I deserve it, my Heavenly father has blessed me so much in my life.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as a teacher of the 4 year old children. Even at this young age, their knowlege of the gospel and the strength of their testimonies astounds me. Some weeks I feel that these sweet children teach me more than I teach them.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Mary
Our of respect for our Heavenly Father, we choose to go to church dress in our best clothing. For women and girls typically this means a modest dress or shirt and nice blouse. Men and boys typically wear suits or dress slacks with and dress shirt and tie. Members of the church typically celebrate all the holidays of the countries or regions where they live. Easter and Christmas are especially important since the revolver around the birth and the sacrifice of death of our Savior Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Mary
The easiest way to explain wards, stakes and branches would be to compare them to public school disctricts. Wards and branches would be the like individual schools in the neighborhoods where local members attend and worship. Being in the same neighborhood allows the ward members to develop friendships and the provide service to each other more easily. Branches are typically in more rural areas where there are fewer members of the church. Each ward or branch has a spiritual leader who is a member of the ward as serves as a volunteer. He is responsible for each person that lives within his ward boundries. These 'schools' are organized into larger bodies known as Stakes which are simlar to school districts. The stakes also have a spiritual leader known as a Stake President. The stake presidents duty is to help support the bishops of the wards within his area. Show more Show less
