Hi I'm Bentz

I'm a Mormon. I played volleyball all throughout high school. I have 2 brothers and 4 sisters and am number 3 in my family.

About Me

Right now I´m in Mexico trying to learn spanish as fast as I can, serving the people of Mexico, and trying to help as many people as I can come unto Chirst. But before my mission I lived in the US with my family up until going to college in the fall of 2010. In high school I played a lot of volleyball and eventually my team won the state champion in my senior year. Outside of volleyball I also enjoy playing basketball as well as pretty much any type of excercise (Except running. I just never really developed a liking for my legs feeling like they´re about to fall off). When I was in college I studied math and watched more television than I feel comfortable sharing with the general public. I love to hang out with my family and play board games until the early hours of the morning, except for when I lose. My two brothers and dad are some of my best friends in the world and when we`re all together we usually play basketball together. My dad´s getting on in his years so my brothers and I take it easy on him and let him win so he won`t feel bad. I have a lot of sisters who are always full of energy (sometimes when I am trying to sleep I wish it were otherwise) and they always make me laugh with their tomfoolery. In case you haven`t noticed my now (and I hope you`re still reading this otherwise it means you already got bored and I didn`t write a very interesting ¨About Me¨ entry) my family is the most important thing to me and without it there wouldn´t be much to write about me.

Why I am a Mormon

I´m Mormon because I´ve studied a lot about the beliefs, doctrine, and teachings of this church. I´ve thought a lot about the beliefs, doctrine, and teachings of this church. I´ve prayed a lot about the beliefs doctine, and teachings of this church. And I´ve lived my life according to the beliefs, doctrine, and teachings of this church. There just isn´t a way you can do all the above and not have a conviction that what this church has and what it teaches is true. I´ve seen great differences in my personal life as I have read and applied the principles taught in the Book of Mormon. It`s a great book and I love to read it. It teaches plainly and simply that Christ is the Redeemer of the world. It offers hope and happiness to me and to everyone. Such a book cannot have possibly been written by the hands of Joseph Smith. Unless, he really wa inspired by God. And if he really was inspired by God, then everything he said was true. I continue to follow in this gospel because there is no other logical path to take. I`ve read the Book of Mormon and seen the blessings of it in my life and it`s not really a question of should I follow it, it`s a question of will I follow it. And as I`ve learned and grown in this church I`ve desired a will to follow it. I know that this is the only true church. I know that Christ leads it. He does so through apostles and prophets that he has called in these latter days. This gospel and everything about it has given me unity with my family and joy in the promise that one day I can live with them forever.

How I live my faith

Right now I live my religion by helping others. The bible teaches us that pure religion is helping others and so thats what I do with all my time now. Im currently serving a two year mission in Mexico where none of the keyboards are the same and every time I want to type an apostrophe I type this ¨¨. I share what I have in my life thats given me so much comfort and happiness. Theres really no better way to live your religion other than to share it.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Bentz
Faith in Christ can be increased through the obedience to His commandments. Christ taught that ¨if any man would do his will, he shall know of the doctrine whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself.¨ By keeping the commandments one can come to know whether or not Christ was the true Son of God or if He was just a normal person. It`s a simple test that yields life changing results. Just follow His commandments and you will know. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Bentz
Mormon Temples are not a big secret. On the contrary it would be great if everyone could go into one and partake of the joy and peace that is felt inside. But temples are very sacred places and as such certain things are required before being permitted inside. The things that take place inside the temple are also of great sacredness and for this reason are not discussed openly in the world. Show more Show less

Bentz
The Book of Mormon is a witness of Jesus Christ and His life and purpose. It was written by the spriit of prophecy by various prophets who lived in the American continent before and after His coming. These prophets wrote on plates of metal which were then compiled by a prophet/historian who´s name was Mormon. That is why it is called the Book of Mormon. Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Bentz
Baptism is a necessaru ordinance for all those who wish to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Christ taught in John 3:5 that all who want to enter into the kingdom of heaven must be born of water. Many people have lived and died on without the opportunity of being baptized by the proper authority. Through the ordinance of baptisms for the dead these people are given the opportunity to accept this essential ordinance. Baptisms for the dead are done in temples all thoughout the world. A person is baptized by immersion in the name of the deceased person and that person then has the opportunity to accept or reject the work done for them. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Bentz
The husband and wife in a family have the responsibility to first and foremost love one another. If they don´t do this they cannot build a unified househould in which they can raise children. They must work as a team to teach their children to love and live the gospel of Christ both through their own example as well in what they teach their kids. Nothing should take higher priority in their individual lives than God, their family, and each other. Parents should work together in providing their children with an atmosphere of love, security, and peace where they can learn to love the Lord and keep His commandments. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Bentz
Mormons believe that the Bible is the word of God as long as it is translated correctly. Scriptures are a record of God´s dealings with His children written by prophets and that is exactly what the Bible is. It contains many valuable teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ and helps us to come to know Him better. As well as believing that the Bible is the word of God we also believe in other books of scripture that, like the Bible, were written by prophets and are records of God´s dealings with His children. These book are: The Book of Mormon - A record of God´s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas - The Doctrine and Covenants - A collection of revelations given to Joseph Smith, the first modern day prophet - and The Pearl of Great Price - a small collection of revelations and translations and writings of Joseph Smith. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Bentz
Authority to baptize is necessary because God is a God of order. When someone is baptized it is for the remission of sins. The person doing the baptize would logically need permission from God to baptize then because God is the only person who can forgive and erase our sins. Not just any person can perform a valid baptism. When Christ came He gave this authority to baptize. Unfortunately His apostles were later persecuted and killed and this authority to perform baptisms was lost. But God in His mercy has restored this same authority to the earth day through a modern day prophet. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Bentz
God aska us to give te percent of what we earn not so much because He needs money but because when we do what He asks us, our faith and trust in Him grows and He can bless us more. Money is one of the most important things to people and God understands that it will be hard but He promises that if we have the trust in Him to do it we´ll never lack anything. Tithing money is not used to support church leaders but to build more chapels , temples, and help build God´s church here on the earth. Show more Show less
