Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been an educator for the past 43 years as a teacher, coach, and district administrator. I have a Bachelor's degree and two Master's degrees in educational fields. We have five children and currently have fifteen grandchildren. I enjoy all sports, but especially golf and family activities such as hiking, camping, kayaking, and bicycling. My wife and I have recently retired and we will be entering the mission field this month to serve our Savior in anyway we can to help spread the Gospel throughout the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted from a Protestant religion many years ago because of questions we had about the Triune God and other beliefs that didn't make sense to me. We were introduced to the LDS religion through colleagues at school and are so thankful for their courage to share the basic tenets of Mormonism that included the three personages of the Godhead and the Plan of Salvation that gives us the opportunity to be sealed in the temple to our spouse, our children, and our extended family for eternity. We have been blessed with five children who have all served church missions, all graduated from church universities along with their spouses, and the four children who are married all have been sealed in the temple to their spouses. I have a testimony of the divinity of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I am thankful for the living prophet being available on the earth to guide us through revelation. I am also thankful for the Holy Spirit to talk to us daily and direct us to make worthy decisions that will allow us to return to live with our Heavenly Father after we die. We were initially disowned by our family when we joined the Church but have been so blessed to be able to have our extended family see the strength and goodness of the Gospel displayed through our family's example of the Church in our daily lives. Though they don't agree with our decision to join the Church they later have welcomed us back into family activities. We are thankful for our Church membership and the opportunity to share our testimonies with our friends and others we come in contact with.

How I live my faith

I live the Gospel daily by following the Commandments, the Word of Wisdom, and try to serve others through the Priesthood that I hold. I visit families monthly and try and serve those I come in contact with in any way possible. I have worked as a teacher of youth and as a Priesthood leader in both quorum and ward-wide positions. I have been a Stake athletic director providing sports activities for both Stake and Regional level participation. I have been involved in numerous musical activities both as a singer, musician and director. I love the Church and am glad to serve others in sharing any talents Heavenly Father has provided me with.
