Hi I'm Risa

I'm a wife, a mother of three, a college graduate, I love to cook and play with my kids, and travel, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved a lot as a kid. The one thing that kept me grounded was my large extended family, I love to spend time with my cousins and aunts and uncles. My idea of a good time is a big family party. I went to college after high school and met my husband. We made each other laugh and after a while decided to go on doing that forever. We were married in the Mesa Temple. We have been married for 11 years now and have three kids. Laughter and our faith in Christ has gotten us through many hard times. I am passionate about travel. I want to travel the world. I love to cook and bake. My goal is to cook healthy food, that tastes good and is good for you. I am always looking for new recipes and fun things to make. I love to play with my children. I love to be active and adventurous. If there is fun to be had then you can count me in. Growing old may be mandatory but growing up is optional. I believe that we are meant to have Joy in this life and I mean to have as much as I can. I find Joy in living a good, clean, righteous life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that God loves me and wants me to grow and have joy. I know that life is hard, it’s supposed to be, we can’t learn and grow without hardships, however our loving Father in Heaven has given us a path to follow that will help us find peace, comfort and strength through our trials. I believe that being a Mormon is the best path you can follow in this life. All the commandments that we are given are designed to bring us true and lasting Joy. The promises we make trough baptism and other covenants are a source of great strength to me. I know that if you make a deal with God he always keeps his end of the bargain. Every commandment comes with a promise. Through keeping His commandments and receiving the promised blessings, I have come to know that there is a God and that He loves me. When Jesus came to earth He healed many people and almost always said that it was their faith that made them whole. I know that believing Jesus can heal us and make us whole is the only way we can truly be happy. Jesus Christ is my Savior. He saves me from darkness, loneliness and sorrow. When I have made mistakes He is the only one who can make it better. He can make me better. Being a Mormon has taught me who Jesus Christ is and about His Atonement. That is why I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Having a relationship with Jesus may be the most important thing in life but once you do come to know Him, His message has been and always will be to feed His sheep. That is one of the main reasons He organized His church on the Earth. We all need to help each other; we are all brothers and sisters. I have enjoyed the opportunities I have had to serve in the church. I have worked with Children and Youth mostly. I have taught and planned activities for teenagers to learn who they are and how much God loves them. As we learn and grow together there is a bond we form that gives us strength and helps us feel like we are not alone in this world. Currently I teach Sunday school to 3 year olds. We sing songs about Jesus and Heavenly Father. I teach them to love others and to pray and be grateful for God’s creations. Being a Mormon means that I am part of a very large family of people who all want to be more like Jesus. I have gone to Church in Italy and Mexico and in other parts of my own country and the feeling is the same. Wherever I go I know that I can find a Mormon church and in it there will be a place for me to help and find help if I need it. We are all different but in one important way we are the same. We are brothers and sisters in Christ.
