Hi I'm Michael Bateman

I play the saxophone, I play baseball, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey! I'm a junior in high school and I am always looking for fun! I really like girls, they're freaking awesome! I love to play baseball. I play as the starting catcher for a select team. The day I was born I watched my first Mariners game! I'm also in my school marching band, I play the alto saxophone! I love kayaking. I've built my own kayak with the help of my dad and we usually go on at least one kayaking trip a year.

Why I am a Mormon

I've actually been a member since the day I was born, so at first I just went along with believing what my family did. During the start of my teenage years I began to really build a firm belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which I continue to add to every day. My fellow Mormon young men really help me with my testimony as well! We all have the same sense of standards, and help each other choose to follow the path we believe is right. There is a certain brotherhood in this group that can't be explained, only felt. I feel closer to Heavenly Father when I'm with them, keeping our standards. It's a wonderful feeling. My brother has been a great example as well in strengthening my testimony of the Gospel. Listening to his spiritual experiences is always great because it strengthens my belief that this is right and it makes me happy that my brother knows that as well.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday, I attend church with my parents. I just turned 16 so soon I will have the privilege of blessing the sacrament (a.k.a. communion) for the whole congregation. I also choose not to participate in sports on Sunday. This has ended my career in soccer, since all the games were on Sunday, but luckily my baseball team puts up with me missing a practice every now and again due to it being on Sunday. This is a sacrifice I am perfectly willing to make because I know it is the right choice. I feel closer to Heavenly Father when I make right choices, such as holding fast to the decision not to play baseball on Sunday, even if a few of my teammates don't understand why i do so.
