Hi I'm Joe.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an educator. I taught high school for 17 years and currently teach classes on the U.S. Constitution at an online university. I love to learn. In fact, I think we should be life-long learners. As a teacher, I have tried to impress upon my students the concept of that which we learn pleasantly, we retain. I love to read and ponder. I was able to serve in the U.S. Army 4 years active duty. I have been married for 33 years and have 4 wonderful children, and now, 7 incredible grandchildren. I have lived in Mexico (2 years) and Germany (15 years), but the Arizona desert is where I call home. I still like to get out for an early morning jog three days a week. I love life and I am so blessed!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Mormon church! I am grateful to have wonderful parents who taught me about Jesus Christ and all that He has done for me. At an early age I felt that the teachings of this church were true. I have studied, pondered, and asked in prayer to know of these things. Over the years, I have learned about other Christian churches as well as the major religions of the world (Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, etc.). I appreciate the truths followed in all of those organizations, but it is the Mormon church where I have peace and understanding. The Savior is central in all that say and do. I honestly believe that Jesus Christ is the redeemer of mankind. He taught precious truths and gave his life in an atoning sacrifice so that all may be able to repent and change, giving all the possibility to live again with Him and with our heavenly Father. We have been blessed to have a prophet and 12 apostles living on the earth, men with priesthood authority. We are blessed to have revelation...the Holy Ghost teaches us how we may know and do the things to return to our heavenly Father's presence. To be able to do this with with my wife and children and loved ones is the greatest possible gift.

How I live my faith

I am actively involved in my ward (about 300 fellow members of the Mormon church) and serve with the older brethren. I love to share what I have learned with others. I have fun teaching Sunday School lessons and sharing my understanding with others who are investigating the Mormon church. I try to serve other members of my church, as well as my neighbors and friends. Service is one way of showing appreciation to the Savior for all he has done for us. I count my blessings that I am a Mormon.
