Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of 3 talented children, the oldest of which is in college and the youngest is in middle school. I am the husband to a beautiful wife, who is also finishing her degree at home. I spend my personal time riding mountain bikes and playing racquetball. I enjoy music of all types and I play an Irish Whistle, but I am a much better listener than I am a creator of music. I read a lot and have been trying to convince people for years that electronic books are the way to go. Kindle and Apple are finally helping to win more people over. I am a mechanical engineer and at work I design machines to make airplane parts. I find my job immensely satisfying, so I am lucky in that regard.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I was 18 a friend cared about me so much that they practically twisted my arm to get me to listen to the missionaries. When I heard what they had to say, it all made sense and I knew that I had found the truth. It didn't hurt that I had several friends that were also members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that were a good influence on me. I saw how their families lived and I knew that I wanted my own family to be like that when I was a parent. Now that I am a parent, I think I do have that kind of family and I know that the gospel and The Church have helped me to make it happen.

How I live my faith

In our church, most members have an unpaid job, or calling. My calling is to assist our Bishop as his Second Couselor. It is a busy calling and there is always more to do. I have learned, though, that the more I serve, the more blessed I feel. I am lucky that as a Couselor I have opportunities to work with many different groups at church, especially our youth group. They are an amazing and talented bunch of young people that display great leadership potential. I am grateful to our Heavenly Father who is wise enough to have his children serve each other that we might build ourselves up while building His kingdom.
