Hi I'm Shawn

I am the baby in a family of eight, Im currently a college student, I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in WA aka the rainy state and despite the rain, my sense of happiness and optimism about life isn't easily washed away. I am the sixth and last kid in my household, I have three brothers, and two sisters. My parents,... what more can I say other than they are awesome. My dad came from a broken home and started a company of his own which is still going strong. My mom moved from the phillipines and has grown up with nine other siblings. Even though I have my arguments and differences with them, at the end of the day I know I love and adore every one of them. I love being active, hiking, climbing, swimming, quading (four wheeling), dancing, and ect. I've only broken one bone in the span of my entire life, granted thats not a long time but, I broke my femur. If you dont know, that is the biggest bone in the body, I couldnt walk for a while, I did my own physical therapy and I was up and running in three months when the doctor said it was going to take at least six to do so. I am kind of a biology nerd, sciences are my thing. So whenever I see one of those medical TV shows, like House, ER and Grey's Anatomy, I can say "Heyy, I know what they're talking about!!!". Oh and I'm a Mormon. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I have never felt so loved in my life. I was born and raised in the church and I took that wonderful blesing for granted. As I grew up in the church I applied the teachings of the church only halfheartedly, I was in constant agruments with my parents, and family and I almost moved out. I felt drained everyday wondering what I was doing with my life, even though I was getting what I wanted I was not supplied with the feelings of wholeness and completion that I now feel. I was being taught by the missionaries, even though I had already been baptized, and one time they challenged me with such power to pray and gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I sat and pondered about my history being a member of the church, I always felt like I didn't have to question my beliefs because I had been raised in it. My spirit was touched and I accepted the challenge. Around three to four months later I had recieved an answer, and gained a testimony of the life and love of my savior Jesus Christ. Through reading the Book of Mormon I was able to understand the atoning sacrifice, the ransom he paid for me. I came to know that I felt more purpose in my life, serving others, trying to emulate the life of Jesus Christ. My Heavenly Father loves and knows me, and wants me to return to him. Understanding and applying the teachings of the gospel have saved me from myself. From that time, almost two years ago, I have known the love of my savior and I wouldn't give that up for anything. Knowing that, I use that as my goal to try and continue living a life that is in accordance with God. I realize the importance of my role on Earth as a son of God. The clarity, happiness, and peace I recieve from living the gospel, no longer feeling purposesless and lost; especially in this world which seems to spin out of my mortal control, I know I am anchored in My Father in heaven and his Son Jesus Christ. This why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am the Young Singles Adult Representative in my ward. That means I am responsible for anyone in the age range of 18-30, I want them to feel like they are noticed, it is so often in that age group we feel unnoticed. I do my best to reach out to those in my ward and even those who are'nt members, because it is important everyone should have a friend who gives them the attention they need. I try and live my life with charity and love in my heart, if I can give it I will. Whether it be a word of advice, a hug, a smile, a comment, ect. I try and uplift all of those who are around me everyday.
