Hi I'm Jennifer

I'm a school teacher, a homemaker, a traveler, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the lucky wife of a hard working mechanical engineer whom I met during my senior year of college. We love doing things together such as hiking, taking roadtrips, and dancing. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest with my wonderful parents and siblings, and I love the big trees found there (and I don’t mind the rain, either!) I am a recent college graduate in Elementary Education, with a minor in Spanish Education. Almost immediately after I graduated I started my career as a teacher, teaching fifth grade. I served among the Hispanic population in the United States during my mission and have come to love their language and culture. I love cooking, but mostly baking, I really enjoy being creative with food and recipes. I love being outdoors, and I love traveling and spending time in different places in this beautiful earth God created for us to enjoy. I have traveled abroad and also around the United States, and plan to continue traveling and enjoying the beauty around us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can clearly see what it has done for me in my life. I love the standards and guidelines taught to us in church because they keep us healthy, happy, and free. Because of the church, I have had the courage to say no to things such as drugs and alcohol when offered to me, and in return have never become addicted to anything, ever. There is happiness in that kind of freedom. Being a member helped me realize at a young age that I am important. I have self worth and Heavenly Father loves me. As I spend hours with children in school settings, it breaks my heart as children express feelings of emptiness and not knowing who they are. The church teaches us that we are children of God, and we all have special qualities that make us who we are. I love the fact that even a child can understand that they are loved and important. I am a Mormon because the teachings we receive about our Savior are so pure, so correct, and so happy. When I think of my Savior, I feel peace and comfort to know I am not alone, even when I may feel like I am. I am far from perfect, and have a lot to work on, but the church helps me set goals that will lead me in the right direction. The Savior is there to help me when I mess up; the power of His atonement is real. I know He died for me. I know He lives and that He is God’s son. The church is true, it guides me in everything I do, in every decision I make.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do things to the best of my ability. I try hard to positive and happy. I do my best to be active in the callings and responsibilities given to me at church. My husband and I really enjoy being part of service projects around the community and have helped in quite a few. Service and helping others is part of striving to be like Jesus. I try to involve myself with many people; I love to be around friends and family. I love to work with youth, and I try to take opportunities to help them realize how special they are. A few summers ago I worked as a counselor at a church program for youth between the ages of 14-18 called Especially for Youth. In most of my lessons and conversations with these youth, who I came to love dearly, I expressed to them the love their Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for them. I love seeing the light come on when someone realizes that is true. I believe others can feel the Savior’s love through people, and I strive to be someone that others feel comfortable around. My husband and I love having the missionaries over, and we often help them with lessons that they are teaching to those who are learning about this church. We often have the lessons in our home, and we love it. Missionary work is fun. I love helping others come to understand the message of happiness and hope that this gospel brings to their lives. I live the gospel by helping others come to know our Savior.
