Hi I'm Julie

I'm a recovering Air Force Brat. I'm a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dad is a retired Air Force officer, so I spent my youth moving every 3-4 years. I still haven't quite settled down. I teach AP Language and Composition and Popular Culture at a local high school, and I advise the school newspaper. I also volunteer at a non-profit, mission-based cinema by working with their education committee. I love watching sports! Saturdays in the fall are all about college football for me, and I pay attention to NFL as much as my Fantasy Football team needs me to. I wish I had more time to read, but most of my reading time is spent grading papers or reading articles to flesh out my curriculum. I also play the piano, pretend to play the organ when I'm needed at church, and sing in a community choir.

Why I am a Mormon

The initial answer to why I'm a Mormon is because my parents raised me that way. But I really believe that everyone has a conversion story--even people like me who were raised Mormon. At some point, a true conversion is necessary to truly develop a relationship with Jesus Christ, and in that respect, I guess I would say my conversion story is continual. I believe in a loving, merciful God. I find great peace in reading the scriptures.

How I live my faith

I teach Gospel Doctrine, which is the adult Sunday School class, and sometimes I play the organ for our worship services.
