Hi I'm Pat

I am a husband, father, teacher, and psychologist who is enjoying small-town life in Indiana. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of three (soon to be four) and have lived in Indiana most of my life. While I was in college, I served a two-year mission in Vienna, Austria. After working about five years with software companies in the Indianapolis area. I was inspired to return to school and finished a PhD program. My interests include psychology/human behavior, politics, cooking, bargain hunting with my wife, and creative writing. I work as a special education administrator and school psychologist.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel of Jesus Christ has offered me steadfastness in turbulent times. I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout my life; a relationship with Jesus Christ has been forged through that membership. Without my trials, I may not have experienced the dependency and subsequent peace that came from relying on the Savior. Where Psalms 46 advocates, "Be still and know that I am God," I have felt that quiet knowing that God is aware of me and loves me. I adhere to the teachings of this Church, because I've been convinced through the Holy Spirit as well as through consistent observation of the cause-effect relationship in my own life, that obedience to the laws of the Gospel brings happiness. Also, my feelings of indebtedness to Jesus Christ drive me to want to do what I can to serve Him to the best of my ability.

How I live my faith

I believe that knowledge without experience is a hollow thing, consistent with James's words in the New Testament regarding faith without works being dead. When I'm living my faith, I'm actively and anxiously engaged in good causes. The Church provides many good causes to be engaged in. I'm able to provide teachings of Christ to families I visit monthly, instruct others in Sunday classes, and help with organization of service activities.
