Hi I'm Darlene

I was born in Utah , raised in Idaho and moved to Arizona in 1977. I'm the mother of 12 children, an RN and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 12 children 43 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Several years ago my husband died very unexpectedly. I had always been a stay at home mom. This means I was always PTA President, room mother, taxi driver and a hundred other things. Because I still had 8 unmarried children at home when my husband died I returned to the work force. I had become a registered nurse before my marriage so it was a natural to work at school, with my kids, as a nurse. It was great going to school with the kids. Before my husband died I used to say my middle name was Cub Scout. I was an adult Cub Scout leader for over 20 years. I have served as the Den Leader, Committe Chairman, Pack Chairman, District Training Chairman and a Wood Badge Den Leader. I am now retired and loving life. I love being "Grammie". My health is super, life is great and I love being alive.

Why I am a Mormon

Because my parents were Mormons I naturally went to church with them and my testimony was theirs. When I became older and could "think for myself" I did a lot of studying, observing and praying. I then became a Mormon because I came to know for myself, through the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, that it is the truth. It is a perfect blueprint for life. I know I am happier because I feel I am trying to be like Jesus Christ. I have a long way to go but that is my goal.

How I live my faith

The church has given me so many opportunities to grow and serve. I started teaching the 3 year old children when I was 13 and continued teaching until I was 18 years old. I have had the opportunity to serve all my life as a teacher of children, youth and adults. I have served as the president or in the presidencies in the church organizations for children 3-12 years of age, youth 13-18 years of age and the women18 years and older. I have directed and/or participated in choirs, dance festivals, dramas, pageants, dinners, talent shows, service projects for our community and abroad to mention a few. The Mormon church is a church of volunteers and we all have countless opportunities to serve. I feel I have received the most because of the personal growth I have enjoyed by being active in the Mormon Church. I am currently serving in the Mesa Temple, the Mesa Regional Family History Center and Family Services.
